From Death to Life and Beyond

This was originally posted in April 2006

Empty Tomb HE IS RISEN!!
Which event is the most important, (1) the death or (2) the resurrection of Jesus the Messiah? Of course there would be no resurrection of Jesus had He not been crucified… but He was crucified. But what if, after Jesus was crucified, dead and buried, He had not resurrected from the grave? There would be no salvation.. There would be no proof that Jesus is indeed God in the flesh and that is Satan’s message. We see such a lie has been touted by “liberal” theologians from the time shortly after Jesus was put to death by the Roman court.

  • Matthew 28:1-8
“In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers [guards] did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word.”
  • Luke 24:6-7
“He is not here, but is risen: remember how He spake unto you when He was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”

Great Joy” would be an understatement!! Imagine their circumstances, the Person they trusted, worshipped and followed had just been humiliated, crucified, had died and was buried. They come to the tomb expecting to complete their mourning. Then they see the tomb empty and hear the words, “He is not here: for He is risen.” HE IS RISEN! Imagine the JOY!

  • Then in Matthew 28:11-14
…some of the watch [soldiers, guards of the tomb] came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole Him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you [keep you out of trouble].”

This is amazing. The soldier guards knew Jesus had arisen from the tomb even though it was tightly sealed and this happened while they were guarding the tomb. A Roman guard who failed in his duty was liable for the death penalty thus they would move heaven and earth to see their duty was completed. So here we see the origin of the lie, perpetuated even until today, from those who deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For centuries books and expose’s have been written trying to disprove the Resurrection… all to no avail. HE IS RISEN!!

Often, religion tends to dwell on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus to the neglect of the resurrection. YES, the horrible crucifixion of Christ is a vital part of the Gospel of our Salvation.. But religions too often ignore or de-emphasize the fact — HE IS RISEN!

By His death, burial and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled the Messianic promise outlined in the Old Testament.

The Gospel (Good News) is not good news without the Resurrection of Jesus. Jesus is alive but Mohammed is dead, Buddha is dead, Confucius, Mary Baker Eddy, Joseph Smith, etc are all dead. Every religious leader throughout history has died. The only One to rise under His own power is Jesus the promised Messiah.

The following has been called “The Gospel in a Nutshell”:

  • 1 Corinthians 15:1-6
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, ….. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that He was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, He was seen of above five hundred brethren at once….”

Witness after witness after witness: this is evidence of His resurrection.

Salvation by God’s Grace is understanding that we are imperfect. God calls this sin. Our sin requires a death penalty.. But God with love beyond infinity, loved us so much that He sent Jesus Christ to make that death penalty for the whole world, to the Jew first and then the Gentile, that all who would believe or trust in Jesus would have everlasting life in Heaven with Him. Jesus came and fulfilled the law and paid the death penalty we humans owe. He did that and arose from the grave just as He predicted. Now the responsibility is upon us. Do we trust Jesus alone as our Savior, our complete Savior, apart from our good works? If we do trust Jesus alone, we HAVE everlasting life, guaranteed.

  • John 3:16-18
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Dear friend, at this time of year when we celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, perhaps you do not know for sure you have eternal life in Christ. If you are not sure, please trust or rely upon Jesus alone as your Savior to deliver you to Heaven, to give you eternal life. It is not by an organization, church or your good works, simply Jesus. I pray you will make this decision as it is the most important one you will make during your entire life on this earth.

I pray you will!!

Ecumenical Social Gospel from “Christian Leaders”

Those great and well known “Christian”  experts, former Presidents Jimmah Cahtah, Bill Clinton and many other Baptist leaders met in Atlanta for what was called “Celebration of a New Baptist Covenant.” Also attending were Obama, (Church of Christ) and Hillary, (United Methodist Church).[BOLD represents my emphasis and comments]

Included were …. Baptists from throughout North America and former members of the Southern Baptist Convention [who were] upset by its rightward shift. Carter was a lead organizer of the event.

“Thousands of participants prayed and held hands across a massive exhibit hall at the first session Wednesday night. Carter, a longtime Bible teacher at his Plains, Ga., church, called the three-day gathering “the most momentous event in my religious life.”

He [Carter] called animosity among Christians “a cancer metastasizing in the body of Christ.”

This is a great illustration of the lie of modern religious ecumenism which is forging the platform for the New World Order and the New World Religion of the last days.

The former president insisted the meeting was strictly religious, not political. [Even though] It is being held just days before Feb. 5, when 24 states will hold presidential primaries or caucuses.

Former Vice President Al Gore and former President Bill Clinton are among the major speakers. Earlier in the day, at a separate meeting of the black Baptist groups, Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke about their presidential candidacies.

Critics have dismissed the event as little more than a Democratic rally.

We concur — except, instead of Democrat. they should say Extreme Liberal.. (Same thing).

However, they all heavily emphasize Scripture on social justice.

This is nothing more than spreading the “social gospel” — which is no gospel at all.

[…]

Carter and many other Baptists severed ties with the Southern Baptist Convention when conservatives took control of the denomination in the 1970s and 1980s, waging a bitter fight over interpreting the Bible.

Excerpts from a news article here.Thu Jan 31,2008

This ecumenical meeting of those who call themselves “Christians” never mention nor promote the main tenet of Christian Theology, The Gospel of Jesus Christ, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus to pay the sin debt for every person in the world — and by putting our trust in Jesus, we have eternal life. These folks are preaching and organizing a world-wide anti-Biblical movement which dilutes the Gospel in favor of a false “do-good” religion of works/deeds. This organization of theological liberals is contrary to God’s Word!

Now, here is the Good News:

When Do We Compromise?

When do we compromise our faith, our beliefs, our principles, our morals?

 NEVER !!!!

There are organizations and people, leaders and Pastors who are trying to undermine our fundamental Bible faith.

Compromise and acceptance of error is not new. It has been around for thousands of years– in fact since the beginning and has continued until today.

God told Adam and Eve,

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:17

And in direct contradiction to what God commanded, Satan (the Old Serpent) told Eve,

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:” Genesis 3:4

The Nation of Israel rebelled against God’s commands to Moses and compromised by building their special idols.

Paul wrote letters to the Corinthian Church, the Galatian church and many other churches to warn against doctrinal and moral compromise. The New Testament is full of warnings against those who preach a false message. These are false prophets regurgitating false messages to be accepted by immature Christians.

If you doubt my premise, please check out these men and their movements who seek to alter or destroy our faith:

Brian McLaren——Rob Bell

Leonard Sweet——Doug Pagitt

Tony Jones———-Dan Kimball

Rick Warren——–Erwin McManus

Christmas Concert 1964

It was December 15, 1964 when I was tricked into going to a Christmas Concert. I think my wife was complicit in the scheme to get me there. You see, I was very un-religious — in fact I was an avowed atheist.

As I sat there I enjoyed listening to the old-time Christmas hymns with which I was familiar. I heard them annually all 35 years of my life. About half way through the concert, a man began to speak about the reason for Christmas. I was furious with my friend (and my wife) who had tricked me. I did not need to be “preached to.” I very nearly bolted to the exit.

During the talk, the gentleman mentioned several Bible verses containing prophecies of the Old Testament attesting to the truth of the season.

I learned that “Christianity is not a first-century invention. It is, in fact, the fulfillment of that which, with one voice, the Hebrew prophets consistently foretold for centuries.

“There are more than 300 Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament. Why? So Israel could identify Him, when in the fullness of time God would send forth his Son (Galatians 4:4).” [Dave Hunt, The Berean Call]. These things I had never heard. One such verse that really struck me was a verse written 700 years before the birth of Christ the Messiah, directed to the Nation of Israel;

Micah 5:2

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

I could see this was a prophecy of the coming of Jesus the Messiah, God in the flesh. This was not just “a prophecy” but an affirmation that the Messiah is Eternal in nature, no beginning and no end.

An amazing and exciting thing I heard from Scripture that night was that prophecy of Micah. There were two Bethlehems in that area, Bethlehem in Zebulun and Bethlehem Ephratah. Just to be sure no one would be confused, Micah prophesied which of the two Bethlehems would be the birthplace of The Messiah (Ephratah of Judea).

Wise men from the East came to Jerusalem looking for the King whom they knew had been born. When King Herod heard that the King of the Jews had been born he felt threatened. Thus Herod queried the chief priests and scribes of the Jews about where this King could be found. Of course these Jewish leaders knew their Scriptures (Micah) and told Herod, “Bethlehem of Judea,” which was Ephratah.

That night I heard many ancient Old Testament Jewish prophecies of the death, burial and resurrection of the coming Messiah and Savior. The fact that these were fulfilled in the Person of Jesus Christ and recorded in the New Testament convinced me of the truth of Scripture and reality of the Person of Jesus Christ.

This good news,

“…the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek [Gentile or non-Jew].” Romans 1:16

John 1:11-12

“He came unto His own [the Jews], and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name [Jesus, meaning ‘Jehovah Saves’]”

I am a Gentile — so I qualify.. That very night I believed what the Bible said — that Jesus the Messiah, the Savior was born, lived, and was crucified for me. Then He was buried and rose from the grave alive. I did not understand it all but I took the Lord at His word and from what I did know, I believed Jesus Christ did all that for me personally. So, that night at that Christmas Concert in 1964 I received the greatest Gift ever offered, salvation in Jesus Christ.

There were no weird feelings, no rolling on the floor, no going forward to the “altar,” etc, just a simple decision on my part — and by doing so, I was, by God’s promise, guaranteed to go to Heaven when I die and to be with Him for all eternity.

Friend, whether Jew or Gentile, if you are not absolutely sure of Heaven, please, right now, the best you know how — from what you see in Scripture, make the honest decision in your mind that you trust Jesus to be YOUR Savior. He WILL save you and give you eternal life this very moment. God loves you that much.

1 John 5:13

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God [Jesus the Savior]; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life…..”

Please make a comment below. We would love to hear from you.

We pray God will bless you this season of celebrating the birth of the Messiah of Israel who is the Savior for the whole world, to anyone who will believe or trust in Him.

Thanks Be to God This Thanksgiving !!!

We are thankful for our dear friends, Shirley and “Spell” Spellerberg from whom we have “borrowed” some of the list below, simply because the sentiment could not be better. We have added a few important thoughts.

As we approach Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful for the following (incomplete list of) blessings:

  • Our God who provided eternal life to anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.
  • God’s infallible Word, the Holy Bible.
  • Bible Believing ministers and missionaries who are faithful to the Word of God in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Our Country, Family and Friends.
  • Our Divinely-inspired U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.
  • Our God-given right to Life, Liberty, and Property, plus the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to protect all three.
  • Being born in America, the land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
  • Loving parents who taught right principles and morality.
  • Men and women who work to keep America moving.
  • Military men and women who are willing to fight and, if necessary, die to keep our America free.
  • Fire, Police, and Emergency workers who protect and serve.
  • Freedom of association and travel.
  • Freedom of dissent.
  • Freedom to vote our conscience.
  • Good health, and when we don’t have that, good doctors, good nurses and good medical care.
  • Home, rest and food to eat.
  • Blessings of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell and others too numerous to list.

Count your blessings on Thanksgiving and every day. Thanksgiving is more than just good eats, good football and fun get-togethers with family and friends. While enjoying the season, remember that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17

Remember, there are many, in and out of our government, in and out our country who are doing their best to remove these freedoms from us — by force if necessary. Be vigilant and pray for America and her leadership.

We welcome your comments on your blessings.

From us to you and yours, we are thankful for you on Thanksgiving and every day!

Christians and Jews: Israel: Beware Annapolis Summit

Lest we sit back and think everything is hunky-dory in the land of Israel, we see a never ending move to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth.

The Seven Day War was one effort — that failed. That great Nobel Prize winner, terrorist Yasser Arrafat tried and failed to eliminate Israel, Another Nobel Laureat of note, Jimmah Carter condemns Israel at every chance. Bashir Assad of Syria has vowed to subdue Israel, Hamas will stop at nothing to eliminate Israel. Ahmadinijad dictator of Iran screams at every opportunity thet Israel must be decimated. Our State Department has apparently turned a deaf ear to these threats.

Now, on the eve of the big upcoming Annapolis Summit event promoting a “Two State Solution” for Israel and Palestine, Condi’s friend in the West Bank, known terrorist and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas demands this:

“… that the Palestinians be given a state of 6,205 square kilometers that would include the Gaza Strip, West Bank and eastern Jerusalem — land conquered [sic Liberated] by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War.”

Palestinian Authority official television is showing a graphic of Israel draped entirely with the Palestinian flag.

map

The image broadcast on the official Palestinian Authority television station reinforces those demands: “The message they [Palestinians] have conveyed to their people for years, and continue to convey on the eve of the [U.S.-hosted Annapolis] conference, is that ‘Palestine’ exists and it replaces all of Israel,” Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) said.

According to (PMW), the same message is prevalent throughout children’s school textbooks, children’s television programs, crossword puzzles, video clips, formal symbols, and school and street names.

“The picture painted for the Palestinian population, both verbally and visually, is of a world without Israel,” the group said

Friends, pray for the peace of Jerusalem… and for sanity in the hallowed halls of Condi’s State Department.

Great GrandPaw and GrandMaw Today

Today ExPreacherMan Jack and Sweet Wife Shirley became happy Great-Grandparents by Jack’s Granddaughter, Anna.

The newborn young lady is Georgia Leone and beautifully and healthily entered into the real world at 12:25 PM CDT. October 16, 2007. She weighed in at 7 pounds and is 20 inches long (and looks like she has been around for months). 😉

Georgia Leone

Look at that picture, taken less than a hour after birth. What a beautiful baby! God’s miracle in action. We thank The Lord for this healthy young baby girl.

We will appreciate your prayers for Georgia and her parents, Anna and Steve. But more specifically — that when she is old enough to make a decision to trust Christ as her Savior, she will do so without any hesitation.

In Christ happily and eternally,

ExP(Jack)

That’s Not Fair

That’s Not Fair

My good friend Dean Chollar, the blind evangelist, sent this short PodCast.

You should listen to the answers to Dean’s questions from a Muslim and a CHINO (Christian In Name Only).

Have you ever tried to share with someone your faith in Christ, and they respond, “Well, as long as your good works outweigh your bad works, everything will be fine.”? They have a world view and an understanding of God that trivializes His justice and holiness.

I shared the following short, 5-minute illustration with two individuals on a recent trip to Europe and was surprised by their answers — as I think you will be, too. It was interesting to see that both the Muslim and the Christian-in-name-only had the same worldview and understanding of God.

Is Heaven Really Totally Free? No Charge?

Let’s clear the air. After reading many comments on this Blog, I am even more convinced that religions and people make eternal life and Heaven a real task, something for which we must work and toil.

Please take a few minutes to read this important post. Your eternity may well depend upon what you do with these facts.

Eternal life is NOT a process. It is NOT a matter of “doing.” It IS an understanding of Who Jesus Christ is, What He has done and Why He has done it for you. Then you may see the wisdom of trusting Jesus for what He promised.

THE TRUTH!!

Think carefully on these things.

You, me, everyone — we are all imperfect, by nature and deed. This imperfection the Bible calls “sin.” We have missed the absolute mark of God’s perfection.

Romans 3:23

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

God, in His Righteousness, has declared a penalty for your sin, which is spiritual death, separation from God for all eternity. This means ALL of us, from the nicest person you know to the worst, the preacher, the politician, the Pope, everyone — but you specifically. We are all in the same boat!

Romans 6:23

“For the wages [what we earn] of sin is death; ……”

HOPELESS?

Sounds hopeless, right? Then, on top of that, God’s word says you must be as perfect as God Himself to have Eternal life and Heaven. Who would ever qualify?

Revelation 21:27

“And there shall in no wise enter into it [Heaven] any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie….”

EVEN MORE HOPELESS ??

Sounds like it. Not even a lie? Continue to read — it does get better.

Mankind is incapable of making himself good enough for eternal life and can do nothing of himself to obtain this necessary perfection.

Ephesians 2:8-9

“For by grace [unmerited or undeserved favor] are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves it [saved] is the gift of God, Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

NOT HOPELESS WHEN WE SEE GOD’S GRACE !!

Titus 3:5

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,…..”

Try as hard as you may, you can never BE “good enough” to earn salvation or eternal life. You MUST rely completely upon God’s Gift of eternal life in Christ, freely given and then freely received by you.

THEN COMES GOD’S MERCY AND GRACE!!!

How can this happen when all mankind is so soiled, corrupt, thoroughly apart and separated from a Holy God?

Mercy! Grace! The Miracle of God’s Love is shown in His Mercy that God Himself, while we were yet sinners provided a sin-bearer in our place. This Sin-Bearer is Jesus Christ [God in the flesh] who paid the penalty you deserve to pay. He then imputes to you (reckons or gives to your account) His righteousness when you believe or trust in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21

“For he [God] hath made Him [Christ] to be sin for us, Who [Christ, being perfect] knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him [Christ].

Jesus Christ is your substitute in eternal spiritual death. He took your death penalty upon Himself on the Cross, rose from the grave in three days and offers Eternity, Heaven freely to you when you believe Him for it.

THEN THE GOOD NEWS!!

How can that be? You need only believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as YOUR personal Savior to receive His salvation.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world [you, me and everyone], that He gave [His Gift to you] His only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whosoever believeth [trusts] in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

That, my friend, is the Good News, The Gospel. Everlasting life is your Gift from God when you personally believe or trust in Jesus Christ to be your Savior.

Please understand that once you make this one time decision, you can be absolutely certain of your salvation right now, and that you can NEVER be lost — because eternal life is ETERNAL [without end] by God’s promise.

In John 10:28, Jesus Hinself said:

“And I [Jesus] give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

1 John 5:13

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God [Jesus]; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

What a wonderful declarative statement from God Himself, offering you assurance that, once you trust Jesus as your Savior, it is a forever, unbreakable promise God makes to you. This promise is from the God of the Universe. He seals His eternal promise with His Holy Spirit within you, indwelling you forever. You have the eternal benefit of His Gift.

DECIDE NOW!!!

Friend, will you right now, the best you know how, trust Jesus Christ alone to be YOUR Savior? He guarantees you eternal life in Heaven.

You have read this and seen the Scripture. You now know the truth of salvation in God’s Word. Right now, you WILL make a decision to either believe in Jesus Christ alone as your Savior, or you will choose to reject this, His offer of eternal life.

Please choose to trust Jesus alone to be YOUR Savior right now. Study this verse carefully:

John 3:18

“He that believeth on Him [Jesus Christ] is not condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the Name [Jesus Christ] of the only begotten Son of God.

If you do not make your decision FOR Christ, then you have decided, “NO!” And by God’s Word, you do not have eternal life!!

Friend, if you are not sure of Heaven or Eternal Life, I urge you right now, just as you are; simply trust Jesus Christ for who He is – God in the Flesh, who came to earth, died on the cross for you – to pay for all your sins. He arose from the grave proving He is God.. and pleads with you right now to receive (believe on) Jesus Christ as your Savior. He paid the price for your eternity with Him in Heaven. Please trust Him as YOUR Savior now..

If you made that decision you are wise. You will NEVER regret it. Now, there are some things you should do as a new believer, NOT to secure your eternal life, but BECAUSE you now HAVE eternal life.

Visit this page and see:

Now That I Believe

Please use the email link on the right side-bar to drop us a line if you have questions or would like to share with us your new eternal life in Christ.

Pray For Ray – and Egypt

Forty three years ago this December, my dear friend, Dr. A. Ray Stanford made the Gospel so crystal clear and understandable to this former atheist that I accepted that Bible truth and made the decision to trust Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.

Today, Monday, 9/23/07, Ray is in the hospital in Florida, undergoing an operation that he prays will slow his progressing cancer. One kidney is shut down, the other is in bad shape, metastasis has invaded his clavicle and ribs.

In true “Ray” fashion, he is concerned that this “minor” setback may cancel or delay his trip to Egypt (UPDATE – My Error, Lord willing, Ray is scheduled to leave for Egypt, November 19th.) where he will assist in growing the Bible seminary there. He is expecting to teach over 100 Bible believing native pastors how to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and then encourage them to be Biblical soul winners in a land of treachery.

Ray is determined to go to Egypt. Pray for the Lord’s will for Ray in his mission for the Lord, the lost souls in Egypt and especially pray for his concerned family.

Oh, by the way, Ray is 90 years old!

AARP Sponsors Socialist Anti-Christian Groups?

AARP members, look where your money goes.Been doing some Internet research and:

We always knew that AARP is and always has been liberal. It should not be a surprise to most knowledgeable Conservative Christians that AARP is also connected with and promotes organizations who proudly proclaim themselves against Conservative Christians. What a wide and wicked web they weave.

Just a little background. I am sad to admit — I am an involuntary member of AARP — only because I live in an area where insurance companies will not insure homes except through a terrible, limited state sponsored insurance program. My home and auto insurance company for years has been The Hartford, which is just one of hundreds of other big money cash cows for AARP. My effort to use The Hartford without AARP has proved impossible due to Hartford’s contract with AARP. The Hartford will not independently insure me. If I stop my AARP membership I loose my longtime Hartford insurance that I need in this hurricane prone area. An independent insurance agent recently told me, “In spite of AARP’s leftist positions, keep your Hartford insurance — you can get nothing anywhere near as adequate where you live.” And I don’t live in a stilt shack in the middle of Biscayne Bay, but in a pleasant inland suburb area, 12 or more feet above sea level and five miles from the Bay.

AARP, the “benevolent charity” group of people 50 and over, is not your Grandmother’s benign little group of “old folks.”

AARP has initiated a new political action group named “Divided We Fail.org.” On their web site they brag that Julian Bond, radical leftist Chairman of the NAACP has signed on to the radical leftist program. They proudly claim that National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial also signed up.

AARP’s Business Roundtable along with Service Employees Union (SEIU) launched a front group, Divided We Fail to “engage” the American people.

The AARP Web  site  happily advertises the leftist group SEIU, The Service Employees International Union, a union of 1.9 million “working people and 50,000 Retired folks.” SEIU President Andy Stern blogs on the extreme leftist Huffington Post and spoke on your tax supported, leftist NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday. AARP is obviously trying hard to convince us they are LIBERAL while they try to hide it!

Now. all of you Conservative Christians — read this carefully

The SEIU, AARP supported web site, in turn, advertises a program, “State of Belief Radio” broadcast on extreme leftist Air America Radio sponsored by Interfaith Alliance and features Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, Pastor of Northminster Baptist Church in Monroe, LA.

Gaddy is president of the national leftist “nonpartisan” grassroots and educational organization, The Interfaith Alliance web site in turn advertises a link “Make a Difference. Fight the Religious Right.” Gaddy claims that “the religious right is wrong—wrong for America and bad for religion.”

There is more — but, almost becoming sick in my stomach, I ran out of time and patience.

Conservative Christians, our Biblical faith is being attacked directly and indirectly by those whom we support financially — and some of us find it impossible to extricate ourselves from it.

There, I got it off my chest! What do you think?

Emerging Further

As I scanned over Dan Kimball’s comment on my Blog below, I was sidetracked and waded through some of the links and side-bar advertising he’s promoting. These items for sale include a quartet album with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.

These men are not heroes of the Faith. To be promoting and advertising these four singers is not my idea of a Biblical promotion of the faith.

Kimball also advertises an album by Roy Orbison, who is considered to be the father of Rock and Roll. Some of Orbison’s more memorable works are “Ooby Dooby,” “Only The Lonely,” “In Dreams,” “Oh, Pretty Woman,” “Crying,” “Running Scared,” and “You Got It.” Draw your own conclusions about how these songs fit in with a Biblical Church ministry.

Kimball includes, on most of his web pages, a photo image of Ersel Hickey – a rockabilly/pop singer from the late 1950’s. He seems obsessed with non-Christian Rock music.

Our conclusion must be that the ECM methods are superficial, shallow and are degrading our Biblical faith by trying to mold the “church” into a part of the pop culture. Disheartening to say the least.

ECM is shallow and superficial.. yet attractive to the youth of the world.

1 Timothy 1″19 “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck”

In the interest of full disclosure, back when I was Pastor of my church, we held a regular Tuesday “Ranch Meeting” night in a church member’s homes. We encouraged our young people to bring their Bibles and their lost friends. Some of our kids played guitars and we sang:

  • “Can You Hear the Savior Calling You?”
  • “Precious Lord”
  • “Where Could I Go But to The Lord”
  • “Just a Little Talk With Jesus”
  • “Christ Is All I Need”
  • “Amazing Grace”
  • “My God is Real”
  • “I’d Rather Have Jesus”

And many. many more. These young people loved the music and the message.

We would give a good clear Gospel message and encourage them to trust Christ as their Savior.

The young people, saved and unsaved were excited and we saw hundreds and hundreds of them trust Christ as their Savior. We then encouraged new and old believers to attend a good Bible believing, preaching Church.

However, when Sundays and Wednesdays came around, our regular services were normal preaching, teaching services with singing of the old-time hymns. These youth learned to love the Lord, our fellowship, our hymns and our church.

Many of them joined our church. A large number of them graduated high school and then enrolled in Bible College.

We never let our church services devolve into a youth magnet, but they loved the fellowship of our believers!

A Church does not need rockabilly bells and whistles in the services to be a scriptural fellowship of believers.

The Emerging Emergent Church

From The Berean Call newsletter, September 2007 issue is an article on “Weaning Evangelicals Off the Word – Part 3” It is interesting in that it names names and organizations who are involved in the “Emerging Church Movement” and enumerates the errors that are “emerging.” This is almost the article in its entirety however there is a link at the end so you may go and check out the full content and footnotes. I highly recommend that, while you are visiting The Berean Call, you will subscribe to their excellent, accurate and informative email Newsletter for the discerning Christian.

I apologize for the length of this article but it is well worth the read. My emphasis is in bold text.

UPDATE: The more I contemplate these errors of the Emergent Church, the more it appears that the ECM’s progression into liberal theology will translate into a liberal political mindset. This, in turn, has or will impact the foundation of our wonderful America, which was formed on the Judeo-Christian ethic of an all powerful God Who has spoken..

The previous two parts of th[e] series made some observations that should be of great concern to those who consider themselves Bible-believing Christians. Paul warned that there would come a time when “sound doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:3,4) would give way to what “seemeth right unto a man” (Proverbs 14:12) in determining what is true. There will be apostate “teachers” who advance an experiential mode that panders to the lusts of the flesh, promoting self-serving “fables” or myths. Furthermore, these “deceitful workers” and lying “ministers of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:13,15) would draw upon the teachings of “seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” (1 Timothy 4:1) Paul certainly had such teachers in mind as he warned the Ephesian elders that after his departing “grievous wolves” would enter among them and teach “perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.” (Acts 20: 29,30) There is no doubt that these verses are being fulfilled in our day.

Although there are far too many examples of apostasy influencing the church today to cite in this brief series of articles, there is one spurious trend that encompasses nearly all of what the above verses address. It’s called the Emerging Church Movement (ECM). The ECM is a development among evangelicals that appears to have some worthwhile goals: 1) It professes to speak to today’s culture about the relevancy of Christianity and the value of the gospel of Jesus Christ; and 2) It desires to keep young evangelicals continuing in the faith. The movement involves a number of churches (mostly non-denominational), some supportive ministries and parachurch organizations, and the support of a number of prominent evangelical leaders and authors.

The ECM has no official organization or leadership, although some of its adherents have “emerged” as recognized leaders and spokesmen. For many of those helping to promote the movement, their motivation to “try something different” grew out of the frustration of their own very limited success in evangelizing and discipling young people. Some of the leaders were in seeker-sensitive and purpose-driven churches, and they saw firsthand that their church-growth marketing schemes were not effective for drawing those in their late teens, 20s, and early 30s. The main fare of most consumer-driven churches features contemporary music with shallow, repetitive choruses, topical 30-minutes-or-less sermons (mostly psychology-based), a host of social programs to attract the lost (and the fleshly nature of Christians), and “Bible studies” that address everything but the Bible (see “Consumer Christianity I & II”, TBC, 2/05 , 3/05 ). For a surprising number of young adults, that was a spiritual turnoff.

In his book The Emergent Church (with contributions and endorsement by Rick Warren), Dan Kimball relates his own breakthrough in overcoming the frustrating experiences in trying to motivate the young people in the evangelical church where he was youth pastor. He tells about watching a concert on the youth-oriented MTV network late one night that was a candlelit, all-acoustic performance. Recognizing that MTV certainly knows its audience and the youth culture, he refashioned his church’s youth room into a subdued, “catacombish,” candlelit environment and had the worship band use acoustic guitars, forgoing their usual flashing light show and loud electric music. He was delighted by the reaction of one usually unresponsive teen who said, “I like this. This was really spiritual.”

That was an epiphany for Kimball. As he expanded the service with what he considered more “authentic Christian” elements and liturgy, it attracted hundreds, young and old alike. He is convinced he’s found what the church of today needs: “As the emerging church returns to a rawer and more vintage form of Christianity, we may see explosive growth much like the early church did.”

On the contrary, the “explosive growth” in the early church came from an approach that is almost nonexistent in the ECM. Peter’s confrontational address to the crowd on Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 is directly at odds with the modus operandi of the emergent leaders. In the power of the Holy Spirit, Peter’s preaching brought conviction of sin, repentance, and belief; 3,000 came to Christ that day. Kimball’s “vintage form of Christianity,” featuring rituals, ceremony, candles, incense, prayer stations, and images to create a spiritually experiential atmosphere for evangelicals is “vintage” only in the sense that it is an imitation of the later unbiblical Eastern Orthodox and medieval Roman Catholic liturgies. The early New Testament church knew nothing of this idolatrous and sense-oriented worship.

Ironically, emergent churches around the world, in their attempt to “reconstruct” the church, are passing each other like ships in the night. Kimball’s efforts at spiritual stimulation by introducing to young evangelicals the liturgical bells and smells of Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, and high-church Episcopal and Presbyterian rituals, stands in contradiction to some European cathedrals and churches going emergent. Europeans are trying to revive their congregations, deadened by centuries of imagery and ritual, by covering their gothic interiors with decorated drapery, exchanging the organ and traditional hymns for electric guitars and contemporary choruses, and adding throw pillows for comfortable seating to create a seeker-friendly environment. These churches are abandoning the very things that are “spiritually” alluring to American emergent evangelicals. Regarding both sensual approaches, Scripture tells us, “the flesh profiteth nothing.”

In reading the works of the ECM leaders, we would agree with many of their criticisms of current Christianity. There is plenty to oppose as apostasy and the abandonment of the Word increases in Christendom. The ECM’s corrections, however, rather than having restorative value for the church, are just as contrary to the Scriptures. Even worse, they go far beyond subtly “weaning evangelicals off the Word” to rendering the Bible and its doctrines as the enemy when it comes to drawing the world in general and, specifically, our postmodern culture, to the love of Jesus.

The Emergent Church Movement claims to desire—above all things—to show the love and life of Christ to a culture that is distrustful of the Christianity it perceives as oppressive and absolutist. We’re assured by ECM writers that “numbers of postmoderns are attracted to Jesus but detest His church” and can therefore be reached by the emerging church approach. It professes to be more amenable to the culture, more viable in its practice of Christianity, and truer to what Jesus had in mind for His church on earth.

Admirable—but let’s see how true it is to the Scriptures. As Isaiah exhorted, “To the law and to the testimony [i.e., God’s Word]: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).

First of all, one has to wonder what a postmodern—a person characterized chiefly by his or her general disdain for authority and absolutes, particularly those dealing with moral issues and religion—thinks about this “Jesus” to whom he or she is supposedly drawn. The critical question is “Jesus who?” Is it the biblical Jesus they like, the one who declared absolutely, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me” (John 14:6)? What about the authoritarian Jesus, who announced, “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love” (John 15:10)? His words weren’t referring only to the Ten Commandments but rather to every instruction He gave. Is that the Jesus a postmodern desires? What about the Jesus who gave mankind an ultimatum: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him” (John 3:36)?

The biblical Jesus certainly does not accommodate postmodernism, which is one more example of humanity’s rebellion against its Creator. The good news is that Jesus offers deliverance from the delusion of postmodernism, as well as all the other man-centered isms: “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31,32). The bad news is that the emerging church approach attempts to accommodate Jesus and the Scriptures (actually “another Jesus” and a corrupted and emasculated Word) to our postmodern culture.

Although some regard the Emerging Church Movement as nothing more than a passing spiritual fad among young evangelicals, its potential for shipwrecking the faith of our next generation (should the Lord not yet return for His saints) is staggering. Here are just a few of the faith-destroying beliefs as espoused in the writings of the emergent leaders. First of all, foundational to the ECM is the subversion of the Bible. It’s akin to Satan’s scheme to destabilize Eve’s trust in what God commanded: “Yea, hath God said…?” (Genesis 3:1). They give lip service to the importance of God’s Word while undermining its inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency.

Rob Bell writes in Velvet Elvis, following 22 pages of weakening the authority of the Bible (making statements such as “It is possible to make the Bible say whatever we want it to, isn’t it?” and “With God being so massive and awe-inspiring and full of truth, why is his book capable of so much confusion?”): “[L]et’s make a group decision to drop once and for all the Bible-as-owner’s-manual metaphor [i.e., God’s specific instructions for mankind]. It’s terrible. It really is….We have to embrace the Bible as the wild, uncensored, passionate account it is of experiencing the living God.”1 No! “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21).

His view, common to most emergent writers, is that the key to the authority of Scripture is one’s interpretation, and that is most authoritative when the interpretation takes place in a community and validated by a “group decision”: “Community, community, community. Together with others, wrestling and searching and engaging the Bible as a group of people hungry to know God in order to follow God.”2

Although we find thousands of times throughout the Bible clear, direct, and absolute commands prefaced by phrases such as “Thus saith the Lord” and “The word of the Lord came to me,” we’re now told that understanding and obedience to what God said are subject to a community’s interpretation. Consequently, ECM churches disdain preaching and authoritative teaching, yet they delight in discussion, causing some to dump the pulpit in favor of a dialogue-led Starbucks environment. As the goals of the community change, we’re told the interpretation may also change.

The claim that the ECM approach has not jettisoned sound doctrine is either a delusion or an outright deception. This becomes clear when one asks for a biblical position on an issue. Kristen Bell acknowledges in a Christianity Today emerging church article, “I grew up thinking that we figured out the Bible…that we knew what it means. Now I have no idea what most of it means, and yet I feel like life is big again—like life used to be black and white, and now it’s in color.”3 Brian McLaren, the most prominent of the emergent leaders, echoes Bell’s “doctrine” of avoidance regarding what the Bible says about homosexuality:

Perhaps we need a five-year moratorium on making [doctrinal] pronouncements. In the meantime, we’ll practice prayerful Christian dialogue, listening respectfully, disagreeing agreeably. When decisions need to be made, they’ll be admittedly provisional. We’ll keep our ears attuned to scholars in biblical studies, theology, ethics, psychology, genetics, sociology, and related fields. Then in five years, if we have clarity, we’ll speak; if not, we’ll set another five years for ongoing reflection.4

TBC has received numerous letters from parents and evangelical pastors who find their young people seeking out emergent churches for the “new” experiences, which they offer in abundance: religious art (primarily impressionistic images of “Jesus”), “biblical” films, rituals based upon Catholic/Orthodox liturgy, community, personal relationships, contemplative spirituality and mysticism (some include yoga), Bible dialogues, ecumenical interaction with “people of faith,” a social gospel, plans to save the planet, restore the kingdom, and so forth.

Regarding the seductive nature of such things, few evangelicals, young or old, have a defense. Too many function as biblical illiterates, meaning they know some things about the Bible and are capable of reading it but simply haven’t made any effort, outside of following along with their pastor’s teaching on Sundays. They are the spiritual con man’s delight.

Satan’s seduction of Eve began subtly, “Yea hath God said?” It was a confusion tactic, setting her up to believe his lie and reject what God had said: “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.” That was his punch line to destroy the human race. Eve fell for it; Adam went along.
One finds a strikingly similar approach in the writings of the ECM leaders in regard to destroying faith in the gospel: Brian McLaren leads with doubts about what God had said:

The church latched on to that old doctrine of original sin like a dog to a stick, and before you knew it, the whole gospel got twisted around it. Instead of being God’s big message of saving love for the whole world, the gospel became a little bit of secret information on how to solve the pesky legal problem of original sin.5

He says elsewhere, “I don’t think we’ve got the gospel right yet. What does it mean to be saved?…None of us have arrived at orthodoxy.”

British emergent leader and Zondervan author Steve Chalke delivers the punch line that unabashedly rejects the essential gospel belief that Christ paid the full penalty for the sins of mankind necessary to satisfy divine justice. Incredibly, he condemns that doctrine as a form of “cosmic child abuse” and a “twisted version of events morally dubious and a huge barrier to faith.”6 This is where these emergent pied pipers, wittingly or unwittingly, are seductively leading our youth.

Hopefully, the above will move you to prayer and action regarding the biblical strengthening of your own children and the youth in your fellowship. If you need more motivation (this brief article allowed me to give you only the tip of the “emerging” iceberg), see our TBC Extra page (page eight) with multiple emergent leaders’ quotes helpfully compiled in Roger Oakland’s latest book Faith Undone: The emerging church…a new reformation or an end-time deception?

The Wondrous Cross

My blogging has been blogged down here of late.

As I sit here thinking about my Savior Jesus Christ, the Words of this Hymn came to me as being more appropriate than anything I could write. I reflect on the modern trend toward contemporary music and wonder… how can anyone not love the old hymns, especially this one? What has happened to believers in Christ that we would abandon such beauty?

When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o’er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Fear of Death or Dying?

Christians have said to me, “I am not afraid of death. But how I get there concerns me.” The Apostle Paul wrote to those who have understood the Gospel and made the decision to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior:

2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

We believers in Jesus Christ have God’s guarantee that when we leave this earthly body by whatever means, we will be instantly in Heaven with Him. “absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”

My Sweetheart wife read me a short piece from a book that I thought was appealing and appropriate. John and Betty Stam were missionaries with China Inland Missions in 1931. Betty’s favorite verse was Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” They were captured by the Chinese Communists and as they knelt side by side, they were decapitated for their faith in Christ. (Yes, the Islamo-Fascists are not the only ones who behead Christians).

This poem and the story of the Stams was published in the book “Women Who Loved God” by Elizabeth George.

Afraid? Of what?

To feel the spirit’s glad release?

To pass from pain to perfect peace,

The strife and strain of life to cease?

Afraid — of that?

HOW TO KNOW YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE

Our Beautiful America

You will be awed as you view this amazing web video. You will see wonderful places you recognize, but remember:

  • Our gallant soldiers are fighting to preserve what you see.
  • There are forces in our country and abroad who would like to take over and destroy the soul of our beautiful America.
  • Today, we have the freedom to worship as we please, but again, forces are afoot who would destroy this freedom.
  • They will not rest until America is under totalitarian rule.

OUR BEAUTIFUL AMERICA WEB VIDEO

ETERNAL LIFE CAN BE YOURS — FREE!

July 4th 2007 – Independence Day — Great Patriotic Video

A wonderful tribute to our United States.

With the political situation in America getting worse by the day, it is fitting we see, hear and read the words of the brave Patriots who founded our blessed United States of America..

Every American should see this video and carefully read the words of our Forefathers and sadly remember, there was a day when our country was truly independent as a nation, yet dependent upon the God of the Universe.

You will be encouraged and amazed that the founders of our country were so dependent upon God and our Savior, Jesus Christ — and were not afraid to say so!

And just for the record, none of them ever lobbied for or spoke in favor of a Theocracy, always and only a Constitutional Republic.

Picky With Words.

I have been known to be narrow-minded — and, believe it or not, some have even accused me of being “picky.” What? ME?

Guilty as charged, but in a nice way. This is not a deep theological dissertation but just an observation, begging for clarity and simplicity when we write or speak.

Frequently we hear believers in Christ say, “My relationship with Christ is not what it should be.” Or, “I am looking and trying for a better relationship with Christ.” Many organization’s Statements of Faith infer something like, “Obedience leads to a better relationship with Christ.”

These all sound nice, but could be more accurate and much clearer.

Dictionary.com says: “…the preferred usage of ‘relationship’ is for human relations or states of relatedness); “the relationship between mothers and their children”

The word “relationship” does not appear in the KJV Bible but is implied in this and many other verses:

John 1:12 “But as many as received Him (Jesus Christ), to them gave He power to become the sons of God, to them that believe on His name:”

Our relationship with Jesus Christ begins the moment we trust Christ as Savior. It is unchangeable and eternal, never to get better or worse. One who trusts Christ as Savior is a son of God forever. Never a lesser son, never more of a son. For a believer in Christ, relationship to God never changes.

However, a believer (son of God) who disobeys, rebels against or ignores his Savior Who bought him “with a price…” is still in perfect Father/son “relationship” with God. His fellowship with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ and other believers suffers greatly.

Ephesians. 5:11 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. “

1 John 1:3 “…and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

In I Corinthians, chapter one, the Apostle Paul pleads for the believers not to have contentions or divisions which were ruining the fellowship within the Corinthian church. He stresses the difference between their standing (perfect, eternal relationship in Christ) and their fellowship (their abhorrent behavior). He emphasizes that their behavior should reflect their perfect standing in Christ.

Relationship — A believer’s standing is Eternal in Jesus Christ — and once settled by his faith in Christ, it will never change.

Fellowship — A believer’s state or condition, fluctuating day to day, moment by moment as we are obedient or disobedient to God’s Word.

Let us use language easy to be understood as we write and speak about our Savior. Is that “picky?”

About a Dear Friend

This morning I received a phone call from Rev. Bill Adams, a good friend of many years. He worked for me and with me in my business while we studied for the ministry at Florida Bible College. He then served as my Assistant Pastor and Youth Director when we later started our church in South Florida. After several years as a faithful minister, and with good will all around, Bill left us and went on to start churches and work in some large prominent ministries throughout the country.

On faith alone and believing the Lord wants him to minister in the Dallas, TX area, he has just moved to Arlington TX. His wife, Brenda and their family will soon follow.

He is praying first that the Lord will provide him with a ministry in the Arlington (Dallas-Ft. Worth) area. He is likewise praying that, if not an immediate ministry, then a satisfactory job that will allow him to support his family and leave time for the Lord to use him sharing Christ in some way.

Also, if you know of a loved one, family or friend in the area who needs to hear the Gospel and trust Christ as Savior or receive some clear Bible teaching, Bill will gladly help. You will find no finer or more faithful witness for our Savior. Please contact me through my email contact at the bottom of this post.

Likewise, please pray for the safety of Bill and Brenda’s fine young Marine son, Brett, who is right now in Anbar Province, Iraq. They’ve not heard from him in months because of the nature of his military mission.

Bill and Brenda and I will appreciate your help and prayers. Bill is a man with a mission to share Christ with lost souls and is certainly deserving of your prayers, help and support.

If any of you, my dear readers, know someone whom the Lord can use to help Bill or that he can help, I will appreciate you letting me know.

Please email us using the email link on the side-bar at right.

Errors Regarding Israel in Prophecy

I copied below an outstanding short article taken from the ISRAEL MY GLORY Magazine – May-June 2007, a publication of Friends of Israel. The article offers a great explanation of the difference between a correct interpretation of Biblical history and the lie that has recently come about called “Replacement Theology.” This false doctrine states that Israel is no longer relevant in Biblical teaching and history and has been replaced by the church. If you have ever sought the truth in the Bible about the past and future prophecies regarding Israel and have been confused by teachers who know not of what they speak, this article will help clear your mind and aid you in the proper study of Israel in God’s Word.

The Importance of Literal Interpretation

By Bruce Stott,

Staffing Coordinator, Friends of Israel.

Hermeneutics is the art and science of interpretation. When most readers open a news paper or book, they assume the author intends for them to understand what he is saying. They also instinctively assume that, to understand what the author is saying, they must use a literal, or normal, hermeneutic,: They must interpret the text literally or naturally, unless the context indicates otherwise.

Interpreting the Bible is no different. The goal is to understand what the human author, as he was moved by the Holy Spirit, intended to say. We do so by using a literal hermeneutic (even with passages dealing with end-times prophecies), unless the context indicates otherwise.

Unfortunately, much of Scripture, especially the Old Testament, is interpreted by replacement theologians who use what is known as the allegorical method. It assumes there is a deeper, more spiritual or mystical, understanding of Scripture beyond the mere literal understanding and that this hidden understanding is found only by those who are able to search out its secrets.

This mindset is especially prevalent when it comes to prophecy. With the allegorical method, prophecy is not to he taken literally but, rather, figuratively and symbolically.

The allegorical method, however, leads to several major errors:

1. Jesus’ Comings. It is hermeneutically inconsistent. Replacement theologians interpret prophecies related to Jesus’ First Coining literally, but prophecies related to His Second Coming they interpret figuratively.

2. Israel. The allegorical method fails to make clear, biblical distinctions between Israel and the church, Even though there are scores of Biblical passages declaring that God has a distinct future for Israel, replacement theologians either ignore those passages or explain them away or apply them figuratively to the church.

They are eager to apply Israel’s blessings to the church, but not so eager to apply Israel’s curses to the church,

Additionally, if the church is now “spiritual Israel,” as Replacement Theology claims, who is now spiritual Edom, Moab, Ammon, Philistia, Egypt, and all he other nations mentioned in the Old Testament?

3. God’s character. The allegorical method also raises serious questions about God’s veracity. If, in the Old Testament, God promised Israel a literal, earthly Kingdom, but He really meant a figurative, immaterial kingdom, what does that say about God’s character? Does God deceive His people with literal promises and then hold them accountable for not recognizing that they were actually figurative?

In contrast, when a literal hermeneutic is used consistently, there results a consistent understanding of Scripture as a whole. Separate administrations of God’s rule on Earth come to light. A distinct program for both Israel and the church is revealed (not two ways of salvation, but a distinct plan and program). New Testament revelation does not redefine Old Testament concepts.

In addition, a massive amount of unfulfilled, prophetic Scripture, especially in the Old Testament, is faced squarely and addressed. End-times events begin to take shape and fall into their proper chronological places. And God’s character is not impugned, but vindicated. His glory is seen as the chief goal of all of history.

A literal hermeneutic does not make these things so. Rather, it reveals them to be so.

When a literal hermeneutic is used consistently to understand Scripture, the end result is Dispensationalism. When literal hermeneutic is not used consistently the end result is Replacement Theology.

Will Israel Survive?

Honest, discerning, Conservative Christians need to see more of this truth as it relates to Israel This article tends to back up prophecies in God’s Word, The Bible..Can Israel survive the onslaught of enemies all over the world? Will America watch as Israel is swamped by those who would rejoice if Israel is wiped off the map?

From the Israel National News – (Arutz Shiva) an article by Cale Hahn, who is an American Gentile living in Texas. He worked as a journalist in Jerusalem in the late 1990s. His articles have appeared in several Israeli, US and international media publications.

The War’s Upon Us.
by Cale Hahn

We have come to the end of the road.

“We hoped for peace, but no good has come. A time of healing, but there was only terror.” (Yirmiyahu 8:15) [Jeremiah 8:15 NIV]

We have come to the end of the road. No more initiatives. No more recycling under different names the same failed formula for Middle East peace. The end of the road is conflagration, not coexistence.

The peace process is dead. The time of wars has begun. Israel has been sufficiently weakened for the Muslim world to once again attempt annihilation of the Jewish state. The facade of Muslim desires for peace is lowered, and behind the curtain looms a violent and murderous religion that brooks no opposition.

The peace process is dead. The time of wars has begun.

Islamic peace is: no god on earth but Allah. Islamic honor may only be restored by the destruction of the Jewish nation. Hence, their nakba is the “catastrophe” of Israel’s birth.

The Muslim nations are actively preparing for war; to declare there is hope for peace given the mountains of evidence to the contrary is manic delusion. Unfortunately, those who say these things are currently running the country.

This is precisely the reason the Muslims will soon attack. Israel is led by a coalition of political hacks who exhibit colossal incompetence and cinematic buffoonery. They possess no will to fight beyond a staged photo op. They are hollow men, empty shells without convictions and without courage beyond self-preservation.

As Ehud Olmert confessed, “We are tired of fighting, we are tired of being courageous, we are tired of winning, we are tired of defeating our enemies.

In previous wars, Israel was armed with superior US weapons systems, while the Muslim armies fielded inferior Soviet-bloc material. Though significantly outnumbered, Israel possessed enough of a qualitative advantage to overcome significant quantitative disparities.

Not so anymore. The Muslim nations are armed with the latest Western weapons platforms and, for the first time, possess not only numerical superiority, but qualitative parity with Israel in many areas. Under the auspices of enlisting Muslim support in participating in its “War on Terror,” the US has armed Israel’s enemies with its latest weapons systems. Examples include Harpoon anti-ship missiles, F-16 fighters, Apache helicopters, Abrams main battle tanks, JDAM bombs, AWACS radar planes and Avenger Air Defense Systems.

Israel has voiced deep alarm to Washington at Muslim weapons parity vis-a-vis the Jewish state, but to no avail. Washington continues arming Israel’s enemies, knowing these systems may soon be employed against the Jewish state.

Along with Western weapons, the Muslim armies possess advanced Russian, Chinese, Iranian and North Korean rockets. These will target Israel from the Golan to Eilat, employing the successful strategies garnered from the Second Lebanon War. Utilization of chemical, biological or nuclear munitions cannot be ruled out.

The most likely casus belli is an Iranian terror proxy launching attacks against Israel’s borders, forcing Israel to respond in kind. The situation will quickly deteriorate to include rocketing from Syria, Lebanon, Hizbullah, Iran, Gaza and other Palestinian enclaves. These attacks will dwarf the Second Lebanon War in terms of intensity and accuracy.

The Muslim nations will then follow the rocket blitz with conventional forces to rid the Jews from Palestine. Dar-Al-Islaam, at last.

Indeed, this is precisely the reason the US has restrained Israel from responding to the rocket barrages on its southern border. The US is deeply concerned an Israeli invasion of Gaza will trigger a regional war or possibly World War III.

Knock one domino down and it is connected by a tripwire to others, which will blow from Gaza to Afghanistan in a quick succession of cataclysmic explosions. Islamic war planners deliberately engineered the structure as such.

America is feverishly working to keep this from happening. US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack cautioned, “We’ve urged them [Israel] to consider the consequences of defending themselves.”

But global war is precisely the goal of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It is the prerequisite for the Islamic Messiah (the Mahdi) coming upon the world stage to lead the Islamic ummah (“nation”) to global victory. Ahmadinejad believes he is the one chosen to usher the Mahdi’s coming.

The whole of the Middle East is a mountain of munitions atop a rumbling, ash-belching volcano. Late summer or fall appears to be the intended point of detonation. When it erupts, it will blow the US from the Middle East and propel Israel to the brink of destruction.

These are heady days for the ummah. They are drunk on the power their oil wealth brings. They sense a moment of historic tectonic shift is soon to occur, an imminent glorious triumph over the infidel.

Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons and is restoring Islamic honor by standing up to America. Every Muslim nation is undertaking a massive armament campaign, ironically provided in large measure by America. The US fatally misidentified their enemy as terrorism, when in actuality the enemy is Islam, from which terror springs.

The Muslim nations haven’t made the same mistake. They know America’s veneration of its economy, and they intend to bring it down in a ruinous, smoldering heap. They intend to drive the US from the region and shut the oil taps to its markets. The OPEC oil embargo of the 1970s is returning, only this time it will be utilized to a much greater effect, intended to destroy the US economy.

America should prepare for numerous terror attacks using conventional and non-conventional munitions. A Department of Homeland Security agent said Al-Qaeda has several South American training camps to instruct terrorists in Spanish and the Hispanic culture and infiltrate them across the US-Mexico border as illegal immigrants. He stated there are several thousands of terrorists who have successfully infiltrated the US and who are awaiting orders to strike.

The coming conflagration in the Middle East may be the trigger to activate these cells; almost certainly, should a shooting war develop between America and either Syria or Iran.

Since the Rabin-Arafat handshake fourteen years ago, 2,000 Israelis have been killed, 14,000 wounded and unnumbered hundreds of thousands psychologically scarred. Israel was willing to pay the price for peace. Time and again, Israel gave faith. Time and again, faith was violated. Time and again, Israel hoped. Time and again, Israel was targeted.

Israel will learn its lessons. After the war, all of Jerusalem will be free from Islamic domination. No area will be off-limits to Jewish worship.

After the war, all of Jerusalem will be free from Islamic domination.

Israel will not fall. He who keeps her will neither slumber nor sleep. HaShem [God] is faithful to His promises and His people: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalms 46:10-11)

In a break with protocol, I would like to make a personal appeal. I would like to bring my wife and little girl to Israel to live and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel during this difficult period. I’ll need work, and a place to live until we get situated. I lived a year in Israel in 1999 and am well acquainted with the difficulties of living there. But what an amazing country! If there is a place for us, we would come. Please e-mail Texaswatcher@yahoo.com with any suggestions in this regard.
