Apostate Ecumenism at its worst?  Peace at any price, without the Prince of Peace? How long will the followers of these men continue to swallow the lies. Look at the amazing combination of Catholic dogma, New Age, Reformed/Calvinist drivel emerging from Rick Warren’s Mega Church in California. Will the sheep at Warren’s Southern Baptist Saddleback Church ever wake up or have they been so brain dirtied and blinded that they will never see Truth?

Rick Warren believes the world can have peace without the Prince of Peace. He is awarding Tony Blair, a pro-abortion, Roman Catholic convert with a peace prize in a few days at Saddleback Church. As we see Dr. John Piper’s open embrace of Warren at his Desiring God conferences, one of which will be held at Warren’s church in April, we are reminded of the emergence of a new spirituality that is without the cross of Jesus Christ (just ask Tony Blair about his plan to unite world religions), of “peace” without the author of peace, Jesus Christ, and of an apostate evangelicalism that has now linked arms with the United Nations to push Agenda 21 goals.

The followers of John Piper are in deep denial. They believe that because Piper has never written or spoken anything heterodox, that he must be trustworthy for all time. That is why I wrote my piece on evangelical bridgers. These are the most dangerous men of all. Blinded by pride and their own sense of importance in the scheme of things, (and ironically, often claiming newfound humility), they end up bridging the gap between false teachers like Rick Warren and biblical Christianity. John Piper has chosen to become a Bridger. My prayers are with those who will blindly cross that bridge while loyally carrying their Piper banners all the way.

Lordship salvation, Calvinism and One Naturism: Do Christians Still Possess a Sin Nature?

I would like to propose a question or two to my readers about One Naturism, so called. Thanks for the suggestion from reader JanH.

Having written extensively about the problems with Lordship Salvation and Reformed/Calvinist teaching, it appears to me that these two false doctrines spawn the further error of “One Naturism.” This teaching (to my best understanding) is that upon “coming to the knowledge of Christ” (whatever that might mean to some) the old sin nature is eradicated or destroyed thus leaving nothing remaining but the new nature provided by Christ which WILL automatically produce good works — or you are not “saved.”

My understanding says that this teaching, however surreptitiously hidden by modernist teachers, is patently and obviously false and totally contrary to God’s Word.

We have some excellent Biblical minds who frequent this Blog and I will appreciate your thoughts whether I have analyzed this teaching correctly.

Beware Rick Warren’s New Age Daniel Plan. It sounds so good, but… POISON

Lighthouse Trails has a very interesting and disturbing article on Rick Warren’s New Age “Daniel Plan.” I have included some excerpts from the article along with my comments .

Do these names and terms sound familiar? Are they names and terms you would associate with a world wide Christian “evangelistic” movement?
Peter Drucker (friend and mentor to Rick Warren), Michelle Obama, Bill Gates (Warren friend and World wide Health Care Reform Advocate), New Age Physicians, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Daniel Amen (New Agers all), the concept of Social Transformation, Wellness, Success Statistics, “Human Capital,” Church member’s personal, confidential health records kept in Rick Warren’s Daniel Plan Data Bank.

If you ever wondered about the ultimate goal of Rick Warren, it is obviously NOT to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to unbelievers. Here is another ominous quote from the article:
“With Rick Warren at the helm, the CHURCH is now in the BUSINESS of health care REFORM. This is the 3-legged stool. It is the integration of church/state/corporate that business guru Peter Drucker (Rick Warren’s mentor) proposed as the method for restructuring Society.”

It appears that the premise for Warren’s wholesale sellout to the New Age movement was described in:
“Marilyn Ferguson’s The Aquarian Conspiracy, published in 1980. This book was ‘an important New Age manifesto [that attempted] to announce and popularize what the New Agers chose to publicly display in their Movement.'”

“Three decades after Ferguson’s book came out, the evangelical world has comfortably adopted the ‘body-mind-spirit’ worldview of the New Agers. Rick Warren and His Latest Apostate “Health” Efforts

Has anyone else noticed Rick Warren’s new health kick.. utilizing three “doctors” to minister to his church.
They are Dr. Daniel Amen, Dr. Mark Hyman, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, all three New age gurus, two of whom worked with Oprah’s religious efforts.
If they follow through with their books and prior teaching,  apparently they will be teaching Reiki, tantric sex, meditation and other abominations under the guise of helping Warren’s church to better health.

John MacArthur’s New Apostate Book: Slave

The back paper jacket to the book caught my attention: “A COVER-UP OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS: Centuries ago, English translators perpetrated a fraud in the New Testament, and it’s been purposely hidden and covered up ever since. Your own Bible is probably included in the cover-up!”

WHAT? Are we to understand that Bible translators for centuries, hundreds if not thousands of highly-trained knowledgeable men of God, have kept a well-guarded secret about the true meaning of the Bible that only NOW Dr. MacArthur will be the one scholar who will bring us the real scoop?

Yes, this is exactly what the book would have us to believe, that the common Greek term “doulos” has been mistranslated in every major version of the Bible since the earliest of printed Bible translations. According to MacArthur, “doulos” should be translated primarily if not exclusively as “slave.” Most modern translators (NASB, NIV, KJV, NKJV, ESV) as well as common Greek-English lexicons interpret the term in a variety of ways as, “servant,” “slave,” “bond servant,” “bondman,” or “attendant.” MacArthur also states on pp. 29-30 that the proper meaning of the Old Testament’s nearest equivalent term, “‘ebed” has also been hidden by modern translators:
“The King James Version, for example, never translates ‘ebed as ‘slave’—opting for ‘servant’ or ‘manservant’ the vast majority of the time. But contrast that with the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Old Testament from before the time of Christ. It translates ‘ebed with forms of ‘doulos,’ or ‘slave’ more than 400 times!”
WHAT?? The LXX translated the Old Testament from Hebrew to Greek, NOT to English! So MacArthur is leaping to an inappropriate conclusion about the meaning of the Hebrew in this case.

My greatest problem with the book was that the author, MacArthur, took the ancient images of slavery and superimposed them onto modern Christianity with the intent to create the notion that our normative relationship with God and our service to God should be that of a slave to a master, instead of that of a child of God responding out of love and gratitude to an omnibenevolent (all loving) Father God. Romans 8:15 says, “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,” Father.”

With this slave-to-master representation set into place, the author proceeded to promote his standard lordship salvation doctrine dressed in new clothes, slave garb. He even used much of the same argumentation that he used in “The Gospel According to Jesus.” And, once again, he freely denigrated and caricaturized Free Grace theology, especially in chapter five.

Introduction

 

Recently I attended the funeral of an elderly Mormon lady, a dear friend of mine and of my family’s for several decades.  I’ll refer to her as “Jane.”  In one of the eulogies given the speaker commented that in her dying days Jane had expressed fears that her church tithes might not have been paid up to date.  As I pondered what had just been said, I thought, how tragic, how sad that a person should have to live in such bondage, doubt and fear right up to the point of death.  I silently felt grateful to God that at least we, as evangelical Christians, don’t have to live our lives in such enslavement to duty shrouded by panic and uncertainty of salvation.  My thoughts raced to John 10:27-30:  “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.  I and the Father are one.” [NIV as are all refs.][i] I rejoiced in the warm snuggling grasp of our Lord’s hands, saving and preserving each and every person who comes to salvation by faith in Christ alone.  But, I reflected, don’t many Christians live out their lives under precisely the same cloud of insecurity, apprehension and angst experienced by Jane?  Do all evangelicals really act so differently than she?

What, then, is the defining distinctive hallmark that sets evangelical Christianity apart from Mormonism, the JWs, Roman Catholicism, and indeed, every other religious belief system?  Free Grace theology states it best:  “We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone” (Ephesians 2:8-9).  Every other religious structure has a works-based salvation plan at its core.  But aren’t many evangelical writers and pastors guilty of promoting a similar type of works-for-salvation system of their own?  Certainly, proponents of Lordship Salvation have been accused of teaching just such a salvation plan despite their vehement denials. Much has been written on this debate.  I will not rehash it here; however, this paper will describe some of the pernicious fallout of Lordship Salvation teaching on the lives of believers especially and on some unbelievers as well.  For additional study of the Lordship debate, I refer the reader to some of the best works that I have read on the subject:  1. The Fallout of Lordship Faith Teaching

Battered! The Father Serra Syndrome

 

Father Junipero Serra was an 18th century Franciscan priest who is famous for founding the Roman Catholic mission system throughout western Mexico and California.  He is known to have been a flagelist, that is, one who would regularly pummel himself with a whip in order to exorcise his personal demons (sinful thoughts and attitudes).  In a California history course in college, I learned that on more than one occasion Father Serra had to be physically restrained by his assistants to prevent him from flogging himself to death.

Do some Christians today beat themselves up as Father Serra did?  Oh, maybe they don’t do so physically, but do they torment themselves mentally and emotionally over their struggles with sin?  Listen to the following composite of one who is caught up in such a pattern of conflicted self-deprecating thinking:  “James is a young man with a different set of problems, the greatest one being lust.  Though he has never actually committed fornication, James struggles continually with impure thoughts.  He lives in dread that his Christian friends will discover what is happening inside his brain.  Attached to this mental impurity is a sense of deep shame, a shame that permeates his feelings about himself and his position before God.”[ii] James desperately needs a regular healthy dosage of the preaching of God’s abundant awesome gift of grace in the believer’s life.  He also would benefit tremendously by the warm understanding embrace of fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

The teaching and preaching of Lordship Salvation can foster a tremendous state of anxiety and doubt for some believers because its precepts demand a high level of purity of thought and lifestyle undergirded by the constant threat of not having been blameless enough or virtuous enough to merit salvation.    Recently I witnessed a heart-wrenching testimony from a young Christian man whose assurance of salvation was decimated by the reading of a best-selling book which promulgates a very condemning form of Lordship Salvation doctrine.  Out of respect  for the young man I’ll share just a brief portion of what he said without giving his name:  “there is no hope for most of us to ever be like the one who is not lukewarm.  There is no hope for me anymore, for I thought I was a Christian for over 15 years, but I am according to the scriptures ‘lukewarm’ and will not be accepted into heaven . . . .  May God have mercy on us all . . . .”  Hearing a sad profession such as this reminds me of why it is so crucial for Free Grace teachers and writers to proclaim strongly the message of God’s grace and to counter the harmful repercussions of Lordship Faith preaching.  I wonder if any of these popular Lordship pastors and writers ever pause to consider the fallout, the damage and pain that they might potentially inflict through preaching and publishing their judgmental diatribes.  Who will pick up the broken pieces of shattered lives?

Driven! When is Enough Enough?

 

Some Christians live in a constant state of tension and dread, always ill at ease, restless, uncertain, never knowing when they’ve done enough; they’re never quite able to get a grasp on assurance. One of the consistent marks of Lordship Faith teaching is that it sets very lofty (some would say unattainable) standards of normative Christian achievement.  After all, their teachers might say, didn’t Jesus establish the ideals for us in the Sermon on the Mount?  Pity the average churchgoer who may not appear to be very dedicated to God or to be very active in serving him.  She might find herself listed among the ranks of the half-hearted or, dare I say, the “lukewarm”; if so, certain Lordship Faith leaders would almost certainly brand her as unsaved.  But who sets the criteria for Christian attainment and who gauges the hearts and motivations of the congregation?  How many years must one actively serve God?  Ten, twenty, thirty, fifty?  Must good works be obvious to men or can they be quietly noticeable before God?  Are any periods of failing allowed?  For how long?  Is working in a secular job acceptable or must one quit her job and go to the mission field?  Do true “on-fire” believers have to sell their fancy cars and houses and live like paupers?  The questions are endless and the answers are few.  And, one of the saddest questions of all is, how many unbelievers are put off by Lordship teachers’ unreasonable up-front demands of commitment, surrender and change of lifestyle in order for one to be allowed into the kingdom?  Rather, shouldn’t Christians be giving them the good news, the grace news of John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31 and Ephesians 2:8-9?

Listen to the story of a driven believer:  “Betty is as reliable as Mother Teresa, as dedicated to Christ as one can be.  . . .  But no matter how much Betty does, she always feels she’s not doing enough, because she also feels that somehow she isn’t quite pleasing God.  This haunting sense of God’s disapproval drives her from Bible study to prayer group, from buying each ‘New and Improved System for Personal Devotions’ at her local Christian bookstore and joining every church outreach program to standing at every opportunity to recommit her life to Christ.  In spite of her ‘gold-medal performance’ as a Christian, Betty continues to feel that God considers her a failure.”[iii] Is this really the way that God wants Christians to live?  Wouldn’t God want us to live lives characterized by confidence, freedom and grace?….

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Prophecy from The Old Testament,  Micah 5:2

“ And the angel said unto them [the shepherds],  Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David [Bethlehem Ephratah] a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Fulfillment of those prophecies, 600 years later from The New Testament, Luke 2:10, 11

Thus was fulfilled prophecy of The Savior, Jesus Christ, who came to pay the death penalty for the sins of the world (everyone), He was buried, rose from the grave and is alive today.

Christ’s salvation is to “whosoever believeth” in Him alone for their salvation (John 3:16). Pray for us that we will have continuing opportunities to share this Good News.

We pray you will have a blessed Christmas season remembering and celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Rejoice with us this coming year in God’s gift of eternal life which is available to anyone who chooses to place their trust (belief) in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Glenn Beck – Patriot and… False Prophet

This is a tough note to write since I have been a Glenn Beck admirer since he started on Fox. I have been an outspoken Conservative since the late 1950s and I see him expose the same Progressives we fought way back then. However now, in light of many thing he does and says, I must say I believe Beck is doing serious harm to unsuspecting Bible Believing Christians. While Beck’s serious and accurate expose’ of Obama, Progressivism, Leftist Czars, George Soros, Cloward-Piven, etc, is right on target, he inexorably promotes himself as some sort of a Conservative Biblical religious leader. Unbelievably, he is cheered on and supported by  Southern Baptist leader Richard Land and former Christian Pastor and historian David Barton. Beck abhors the concept of “Social Justice” yet he promotes two of the foremost radical Social Justice icons, Leftist ML King and noted anti-Christian Mahatma Gandhi.

His statements about his Salvation and Atonement sound close to Truth but he belies that fact by other statements which parallel his stated membership in the Mormon religion. Mormon’s policy is to twist the precious meanings of many Biblical words such as Salvation and The Atonement.  Some of Beck’s defenders say that he is really a Christian but is only posing as a Mormon to get their support. Examining him closely we see Beck trying to appear half in Christianity and then other times half out.  Listen carefully and discerningly, you will see him as totally OUT. He can’t be “in” Christianity some times and “out” another. Either he is a Biblical believer in Jesus Christ as his Savior or he is not. By his words and actions, he seems to prove he is not a Bible Believing Christian.

Any student of God’s Word, the Bible knows these statements are untrue. God’s Word totally rejects
the Mormon teaching.. and vice versa.

A Blog friend Suze has an interesting observation on Beck. Go here and read it:  Glenn Beck Points to World Religion. 12/4/2010 Quoting her, she says:

Once again, Glenn Beck acts like the Mormon Pastor of the nation. […] (and then Suze discusses  Beck and Bonhoffer)

She continues: At any rate, after the book promotion, he [Beck] had on a  pastor in which he said they disagreed about many things but should “unite” under basic values. Once again, Beck is guiding the people to a one world religion, saying all Christians need to unite, despite doctrinal differences.  He did not say that Bonhoeffer was for ecumenism and yet his whole show screamed of this theme. He draws viewers in by manipulating their emotions and then at the end of show closes with new-age philosophy. If this isn’t brainwashing and propaganda, then I don’t know what is.

A Catholic synod called at the Vatican to address the rising persecution of Christian in the Middle East wrapped up on Saturday with a joint statement that focused a lot of attention on demanding Israel end its “occupation” of Arab lands.

The gathering was meant to address the various acts of persecution, intimidation and discrimination that are resulting in a severe dwindling of Christian communities across the region.

But the bulk of the two-week meeting was spent discussing how Israel is the root cause of all the Middle East’s woes, including those faced by its Christians.

The final statement reflected that position. It listed the “occupation” of Arab lands, the building of Israel’s security barrier, military checkpoints, the jailing of terrorists (defined in the statement as “political prisoners”) and the general disruption of Palestinian life as some of the main reasons behind the exodus of Palestinian Christians and Muslim attacks on the Jewish state.

Cyril Salim Bustros, the Lebanon-born Greek archbishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Boston, Massachusetts was responsible for delivering the final statement.

In clarifying remarks, he stated that “the Holy Scriptures cannot be used to justify the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands.”

He then escalated the situation by declaring that the original promises made by God to the children of Israel “were nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people.”

Bustros rejected the idea of Israel as “the Jewish state,” and insisted that eventually all the so-called “Palestinian refugees” must return to the land, a sure recipe for the demographic destruction of the world’s only Jewish nation-state.

Mordechai Levi, Israel’s ambassador to the Vatican, decried Bustros’ comments and the damage they had done to strengthening ties between Israel and the Church.

The Catholic Church has for years been trying to repair its image as an institution steeped in anti-Semitism. But Bustros’ remarks make fairly clear that the Vatican remains as dedicated as ever to replacement theology – that teaching that says God has tossed aside the Jews, despite is irrevocable promises to them, and that “the Church” has instead inherited those promises.

It’s apparent that the crazed Green movement is a religion to many, but I don’t think we were aware that they are actually self proclaimed “prophets” now. Yes, prophets like in the Old Testament. The audacity is astounding.

We’re all too familiar with Greenpeace activist Annie Leonard, creator of the “Story of Stuff”, the anti-capitalist propaganda video that has been shown to our kids in schools nationwide. Just last week, Glenn Beck began to highlight their latest endeavor, “Let There Be Stuff”, a new twist on “The Story of Stuff” that is presented to appeal to Christian and Jewish youth groups as an act of obedience to God. Naturally, I was intrigued and wanted to see just how they would present this, so I downloaded the session materials they have made available online.

While browsing through the various sessions, I was surprised to discover that Annie Leonard and others promoting this Green Marxist message are the new prophets of our time. From their materials:

pg 2, Session 2

Often, God sends messengers to awaken our sense of the urgency of these challenges. These messengers are like prophets and we need to take their messages seriously.

pg 7, Session 2

In Biblical times, people who offered the kind of moral challenge The Story of Stuff provides were called prophets. They often weren’t popular, because they conveyed God’s judgment against society’s status quo and against deeply engrained habits. Our two Bible readings this week are selections about two prophets – Hosea and John the Baptist.

After a reading about these Biblical prophets and their message, our new prophets continue:

As these two examples show, the Bible is clear that the role of a prophet is a vital and dangerous one. Prophets represent the message of God to people and societies who are often unwilling to reckon with God’s high moral standards.

The message at this point is to let the kids know that being a prophet is tough business. They may not make it easy for us, but we are prophets, and wicked people often do not like to hear the truth from the prophets.

Later in the session, the facilitator is prepped on how to answer those pesky questions that the participants may come up with:

Q: Who does she think she is? Why should I listen to her? She’s not a Christian?

A: This is the same kind of comment that people made about all the prophets in the Bible – when they didn’t like the prophet’s message, they attacked the prophet personally.

In other words, kids, just shut up and listen. Stop interrogating Annie the prophet.

At this point, the students will read the referenced passages and be able to make that important connection between the Biblical prophets and Annie:

pg. 12, Session 2

1. Read the passages Hosea 4:1-3 or Matthew 3:1-3, 7-10

2. Tell students: This passage is about John the Baptist, a powerful prophet who foretold the birth of Jesus and/or Hosea a prophet who criticized the people of Israel for their unfaithfulness. His message was a hard and challenging one.

3. Have students reflect on the following questions:

How do you think the people of his time felt about his message?

How do you think this relates to Annie and her message?

What makes it possible to stay open when we hear challenging information about ourselves and our world?

“Let There Be Stuff” has much more provocative material to be sure, but the outrageous “prophet” angle alone should be more than enough to make it clear exactly what their intent is. Regardless of your views on how to go about being a good steward of the earth, how any church or synagogue could allow their youth to be led astray and propagandized in this way is inconceivable.

Have you seen the new video from 1010Global.org ? The one where they push a red button and blow up anyone that questions their agenda for environmental change? Due to an outraged public reaction, they removed it themselves, but it is still readily available all over the internet.

On the surface, you might think this is just another bunch of green wackos using poor taste; so what? But there is much more to it than that. The “Green religion” and its thousands of devoted supporters are a lot closer to this little video than you might want to know.

To start with, who is behind the 1010 group and their upcoming 10-10 event? The 1010Global organization is promoting their big October 10 (10-10-10) event this weekend, a day of global work known as the “Global Work Party.” They have promoted it heavily, including promotion to community groups, schools, and universities. They have an interesting list online of their supporters which makes it clear that this is not just some crazy little Green group in the UK.

Behind the 1010Global group, are thousands of networked efforts, sharing the same ideologies of worldwide redistribution, global governance and disdain for the unenlightened who are not going along with the program. This disdain was made all too clear in the Red Button video.

The 1010Global parent site, 350.org, has much more on the “Global Work Party” day and lists many additional supporters including Greenpeace, Muslim Green Team, UN Foundation, Socialist Youthfront Denmark, Unitarian Universalists and the World Wildlife Fund.

1010Global.org is more of an annual activist day, but its organized under the 350.org group, and this is what they envision for the event this weekend:

We’re calling it “A Day to Celebrate Climate Solutions”–together we’ll get to work in our communities on projects that can cut carbon and build the clean energy future.
But we won’t stop there–we’ll be using the day to pressure our leaders to Get To Work themselves by passing strong climate policies promoting clean energy and reducing emissions.

They like to call their activists “messengers” and they have some distinguished messengers, indeed. Here are just a few of my favorite “messengers” from their list. Let me know if any of the names ring a bell:

Bill McKibben, 350.org Founder

The misanthropy at the heart of radical environmentalism is well expressed by biologist David M. Graber, who, in a glowing review of Bill McKibben’s The End of Nature, writes: “Human happiness [is] not as important as a wild and healthy planet…. Until such time as Homo sapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along.”

Van Jones– You’ll notice his involvement in just about every area of the Top Five list.

Vandana Shiva:

A shift from industrial agriculture to ecological, local food systems would be the biggest single step to move towards 350 and a safe climate, while simultaneously solving the food crisis.

Dr. James Hansen- NASA Institute for Space Studies (and apparently NASA Institute for Enlightenment, too)

I think one of the biggest problems in our churches today (I mean TRUE Bible churches) is they are falling into the trap of being PEP RALLIES FOR JESUS instead of teaching God’s word in a systematic fashion.  They claim trying to be ‘relevant’ in our modern world, but all it has done is make folk dependent on emotional activity instead of the Lord and His wonderful provision.  Emotion is not all bad, God gave it to us. But emotion in the Christian life is only sometimes a result, it should NEVER be the method. And it is not a result in all cases.  And it should NEVER be the goal.  The Apostle Paul said, “…teach things which beome sound doctrine.” Titus 2:1  He did not say ‘get everyone excited with up-beat songs’.  Emotion is appreciation of something and the true emotion that makes a difference in the Christian is the emotion from the appreciation of Bible truth, discovering something new about the greatness of God… the unsearchable riches of Christ.  Or the joy of someone coming to Christ or a believer expanding their faith and trust in the Lord’s provision.
We don’t need ‘Praise Teams’ to lead us to praise God.  Believers need doctrine, truth… so through the better understanding of who Our Lord is, we praise Him because of His majesty, because of His greatness, His justice, mercy, immutability, veracity… not because of the emotional high we get.  I have seen the same emotional response in football huddles, activist meetings on college campuses, and political rallies.
Please let our churches not substitute emotion for the reality of Jesus Christ.

[In] Portland, Oregon, noted atheist Christopher Hitchens laid down some seriously good theology. Most people recognize Hitchens as the author of the bestselling book God Is Not Great: Why Religion Poisons Everything….In Portland he was interviewed by Unitarian minister Marilyn Sewell….The following exchange took place near the start of the interview:

Sewell: The religion you cite in your book is generally the fundamentalist faith of various kinds. I’m a liberal Christian, and I don’t take the stories from the Scripture literally. This little snippet demonstrates an important point about religious “God-talk.” You can call yourself anything you like, but if you don’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sins and then rose from the dead, you are not “in any meaningful sense” a Christian.

Around 460 BC, Hippocrates identified consumption [tuberculous] , as the most widespread disease of his age. It was almost always fatal.  This, our former Free Republic, is suffering from fatal Moral Consumption.

New Search Engine “Will Not Share With Government”

Look Patriotic Americans!!

There is a new, wonderfully efficient search engine that replaces Google, Bing, Yahoo, et al.

Startpage.com guarantees that they, unlike Google and others, do not store your personal information on their servers. This is a great innovation, especially in this time of government intrustion into private Americal lives and hackers stealing info from servers all over the world.

In the past we have blogged about the comprehensive personal information collection done by popular search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc). These search firms record and store your personal information any time you perform a search.

We also know that Google CEO, Eric Schmidt is an adviser to and confidant for our Socialist President, Barack Hussein Obama. All of your personal information collected by Google is available to our government upon demand.

As a Conservative Christian and opponent of abortion I fear Homeland Security Agency will use search information to brand me as a “radical.” Janet Napalitano has issued warnings about whom she considers “radicals.”  The list includes some Christians and folks who oppose abortion.

The StartPage web site offers the option to include their search engine in the default search box for Firefox and other browsers. I have begun using Startpaage.com exclusively as my default search engine. Gleaned from an excellent and informative article at WorlldNew.com.

Days of Unrestrained Evil

Russian writer Stanislav Mishin recently wrote in Pravda: “It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people. The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.”

We all know that out-of-control spending will lead to economic disaster. But worse, out-of control government will lead to a complete loss of our freedom. Let’s be honest about why “Tea Parties” swept the nation: People feel the tremors of a political and cultural quake so disturbing that, unless the Lord intervenes, our beloved America will be forever transformed and our freedom forever lost. And Americans see that the transformation has now begun.

As I write these words, I’m thinking that we live in a day of unprecedented evil. But that’s not really true. Evil has always been with us. The canvas of history is marred with its ugliness. What is true is that we live in a day of unrestrained evil; and unless we succeed in restraining it, evil will surely rule us. We the People are waking up to the fact that our elected officials lack the moral courage to restrain evil. Why else are they failing to uphold the socially and economically moral and substantially sane foundations of American liberty?

As judges stretch the bounds of their constitutional authority, it seems many politicians (and more than a few Church leaders) these days repeat the line “We just have to follow the law.” But if we had always just blindly followed any law in this country, would we have ever rid the land of the evil of slavery? And who would know who Rosa Parks is today? Might not she still be in the back of the bus? We can and we should reject evil laws!

The President of the United States declared June as “Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Month” and, by virtue of his “hate crimes” agenda—sexual orientation is left undefined under that legislation—he vicariously supports the adoption of children without regard to sexual orientation. So we are now on the precipice of state-sanctioned sexual abuse of children by pedophiles who will simply “adopt” their victims. And who would have ever imagined an American president standing on foreign soil, as he did, amidst foreign gods, declaring that America is not a Christian nation? The Bible says in 2nd Chronicles 7:19, 20: “If you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you and serve other gods and worship them, then I will up root you…”

Therefore, Mr. President, I rebuke your declaration that this is not a Christian nation. But if you are right—if we have indeed strayed from our biblical roots—I pray that we will turn back and once again place our trust in that treasured American ideal found in our Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights”; and that we might once again place our trust in the God of the Holy Bible who sets men free. Thomas Jefferson said “Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God?”

Are We the People, in our slumber, failing to restrain evil and thus allowing a new political tide to undermine freedom and doom future generations to slavery? Is Stanislaw Mishin correct? Are we merely “hapless sheeple?” If so, don’t blame your leaders as they “follow the law.” Don’t blame President Obama. He is simply following the course in which he strongly believes.

But I ask you in earnest: In what do you strongly believe? Is there anything you are willing to die for? Faith? Family? Freedom? If so, I have three suggestions.

Let’s get on our knees with our families and pray for our country. 2nd Chronicles also says: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and heal their land.”

Let’s turn off our TV’s, sit down with our families and study our country’s founding documents; and know with confidence that our unalienable freedom comes from God not government.

Let’s get involved, engage the culture and support political candidates who will put traditional American values and defense of freedom first; and let’s hold them accountable! While we are still free enough to do so, let’s spend at least as much time defending our freedom as we spend enjoying it, lest Mishin’s words prove disastrously prophetic.

Rick Warren Speaks to Islam Muslims – No Gospel

Rick Warren, who some call “Pastor To The World” showed his true colors when he spoke to 8000 Islamic faithful in Washington DC on July 4th 2009.

He said:

“Muslims and Christians can work together for the common good without compromising my convictions or your convictions,”

Mr Warren knows not that speaking before 8000 Muslims without sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ IS COMPROMISING!!

He added:
“Talk is cheap … but love is something we do together,” he added. “As the two largest faiths on this planet – more than 1 billion Muslims and 2 billion Christians – as Muslims and Christians, we must believe in this. As more than half the world, we must do something to model what it is to live in peace, to live in harmony.”

Is Warren not aware that “peace” to an Islamist is complete subjugation of infidels — those who do not believe Islam — to a Worldwide Islamic Caliphate?

Warren is fulfilling prophecies in  the Bible which speak of the end time — universal One World Religion and cooperation between all religions.

Jesus Christ will save all Muslims who trust Christ as their Savior… and Warren deliberately missed that chance to share that Good News.

Declaration of Independence for Today

Dear Patriots:

If you have not read our Declaration of Independence lately, Please do so now — and read it OUT LOUD. Or at least read these few excerpts which are especially specific to today.

We see so many similarities to the tragedy that is occurring in our Blessed America today. See if there are instances in our Declaration of Independence  that could apply to today’s iron fist emanating from Washington.

Rick Warren speaks at Islam Convention July 4th

Rick Warren, in his effort to be Ecumenical Pastor of the World, will be speaking to the Islamic Society of North America at their conference in Washington DC. on July 4, 2009, American Independence Day.

Do you suppose he will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ask these Muslims to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior? Don’t hold your breath.

Dare I say that Rick is interested in Rick and the subversive power he can exert in the world. Will he pray in the name of Isa, the Muslim “Jesus” as he did in the inaugural prayer for Barack Hussein Obama?

    What is our beloved country becoming?

    What if this were a weekly Woman’s Bridge Club or a bunch of kids playing board games? Read the whole thing — after you read this quote from the World Net Daily article:

    “A  San Diego pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a county official and warned they will face escalating fines if they continue to hold Bible studies in their home.

    The couple, whose names are being withheld until a demand letter can be filed on their behalf, told their attorney a county government employee knocked on their door on Good Friday, asking a litany of questions about their Tuesday night Bible studies, which are attended by approximately 15 people.

    “Do you have a regular weekly meeting in your home? Do you sing? Do you say ‘amen’?” the official reportedly asked. “Do you say, ‘Praise the Lord’?”

    The pastor’s wife answered yes.

    She says she was then told, however, that she must stop holding “religious assemblies” until she and her husband obtain a Major Use Permit from the county, a permit that often involves traffic and environmental studies, compliance with parking and sidewalk regulations and costs that top tens of thousands of dollars.

    MacArthur Type — New Apostasy, Crazy Love

    One of my readers who signs his comments “Stickin’ to the Bible” wrote a couple of comments which deserve more than just a cursory look.

    He compared the doctrine of Francis Chan,  author of a new book, “Crazy Love,” to John MacArthur.

    I have never read the book but did look up Chan and his ministries and find him to proclaim Calvinist doctrine (as does MacArthur).

    My friend, Stickin’ then proceeded to offer another comment with details from pages of Chan’s book. I will quote some below — so you may be forewarned about Francis Chan.

    Stickin’ To The Bible said:

    I have also heard that Chan is a graduate of Master’s College and Seminary, both schools founded and presided over by John MacArthur.  In Chan’s book, Crazy Love, David Cook Pub., 2008, pp. 68-78, he creates a list of what he describes as his “profile of the lukewarm.”  His descriptions are along these lines:

    1. people who say they love Jesus but only include him as a part of their lives; 2. people who are moved by stories about those who do what he calls, “radical things for Christ,” but they themselves do not do such things; 3. people who rarely share their faith with others for fear of rejection; 4. on page 78 he says, “Lukewarm People feel secure because they attend church, made a profession of faith at age twelve, were baptized, come from a Christian family, vote Republican, or live in America.”   After making his list of  what he calls “Lukewarm People,” he then discards them like matchsticks all in one fell swoop on pp. 83-84.  Chan says, “As I see it, a lukewarm Christian is an oxymoron; there’s no such thing.  To put it plainly, churchgoers who are “lukewarm” are not Christians.  We will not see them in heaven.”

    Clearly, Stickin’ has pegged Francis Chan as a MacArthur type “Lordship Salvationist.” Chan’s statements above imply that one cannot be a Christian without good works — in direct opposition to multiple scriptures which state that salvation is free and complete apart from good works. Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Romans 11:6.

    Obviously Francis Chan has interpreted Scripture to suit himself or has never read the Book of First Corinthians about the carnal believers in Corinth.
