By Jack Weaver
On occasion some folks who do not know me well or may not be aware of my background may ask for whom will I vote in the 2012 Presidential election on Tuesday. I am a Citizen of Heaven by my belief that by Grace alone through Faith alone in Jesus Christ alone I have trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior. Thereby I an an Eternal Citizen of Heaven. However, I am not an illegal alien here in the USA, but a patriotic citizen of America and as such I will explain why I vote the way I do.
For our many International visitors, this article will apply to our friends in the United States of America, But, read on, you may still find this post interesting.
This will be a slight departure from our normal Faith postings but I feel that this year, the election will either completely destroy our Constitutional Republic or we will be given another chance to insist that things of Government be done right for our country according to our Constitution.
We have a choice this year between two men with diametrically opposing views of Government. One, the current President, Barack Hussein Obama is an advocate of “revenge” politics, same sex marriage, abortion — including late term, a “win at any price” political philosophy, one who advocates a Marxist/Socialist form of government, is anti-Israel and a purveyor of “Government of the President” rather than Government of the People policies. He has a four year record of abusing our God-inspired Constitution, minimizing our religious freedoms and advocating for rules and regulations that have and will stifle our economy, threaten our freedoms and our Free Enterprise way of life.
The other, Mitt Romney, is a moral man, an advocate for smaller national government, he is pro-Israel, pro life, for religious freedoms and more free enterprise to help solve our failing system.
Remember:
NOT voting is, in effect, a vote for the current President.
Some say they will vote for the Libertarian candidate. Voting for him, who advocates legalization of addictive recreational drugs, legalized prostitution, same sex marriage, etc is, in effect, a vote for the current President.
We know that neither candidate is a Bible believing Christian but we are not electing a pastor in chief but a Commander in Chief, a President. We should vote for a candidate who will not stifle our Faith beliefs but allow us the freedom to see them expand and flourish.
We know if we reelect the present officeholder it will be four more years of the same policies but worse. There will be no restraints on Executive Orders (laws ignoring Congressional approval) that take away our freedoms, more oppressive government. We will experience a disaster in the U.S. A. that has never even been imagined.
It has been said that our Constitutional Republic may be able to survive another four years of this President. But how can it survive when a majority of the citizens vote for this kind of deliberately deadly leadership?
We also know that the Lord puts up and takes down rulers. Also we see in many Biblical examples, He often does so with the aid of His people.
Daniel 2:21 (KJV)
“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:”Ephesians 5:15-16 (KJV)
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”Philip. 3:20
“For our conversation [Citizenship] is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:”

Thanks Jack for those strong admonitions. I hope that people exercise their rights and go out to vote. I live in a “blue” state that almost never goes for the conservative candidate. Still, I will be out there at the polling place tomorrow and voting. Plus, there are always local issues on the ballot to vote for as well.
Thanks again for the reminder,
Bruce
Thank you, pastor.

Bruce,
You are welcome.. Thank you also. I pray for all our Christian friends in “blue” states. My state may go either way.. but we also still pray for the survival of our Constitutional Republic, where, in the past, we have been able to worship and proclaim our Savior’s Grace Gospel freely.

It was a true pleasure reading these words of sound reason. A hearty amen from me!
As you well know, I have encountered a few Christian voices out there whose outlandish logic causes my eyeballs to roll back in their sockets. I recently encountered one such voice which said,
Whaaa? Really? Since when was Islam not a vicious, intolerant cult? What about his undeniable Marxist agenda? I could go on and on.
There are a lot of Christians out there who believe participating in the American political system is a sin. Yet, they see no conflict of interest when it comes to enjoying the freedoms this country has long provided them, such as using their blogs to condemn Christians who do choose participate. They’ll holler all kinds of pious fallacies against voting, or at least slam the more Conservative candidate for not being a born-again believer, and then, when their accumulated numbers of passivity actually assist the greater evil – in this case, vastly greater – and we begin to suffer its consequences, just wait and listen for their annoucement that God’s judgement is upon us. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around that one. I will say it’s the mystery of iniquity at work, and we can rest in knowing the final outcome.
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” I Tim. 2:1-6
I can’t prove it this side of heaven, but I suspect that if Paul had the freedom to vote for a kinder, gentler Caesar, he would have leapt at the opportunity.
Thanks, Jack, for allowing me this rant. I’m done.
Pearl,
Thanks for your wonderful “rant.” Very true. And thanks for those appropriate verses.
And I agree with your “if Paul” statement. Of course he lived in a totalitarian society and had no chance to vote.. just as we are likely to be in the next four years if this President is reelected. Unfortunately most of our citizens do not perceive this truth.
In Jesus eternally, Jack
Just a followup to the voting story — and quite disheartening.
My daughter, a Teacher’s Aid for “Exceptional” children in a Tennessee county school system relayed this today:
She delivered her “child” whom she takes care of to a Social Studies class, sat back and watched the teacher show the children an Electoral College map. The teacher then proceeded to explain her idea of the difference between “Republicans and Democrats” Democrats want women to have the option for abortion, to have a ‘fair’ tax system where the rich must pay more to support the system, love the poor and want to protect them, etc.
The teacher then said Republicans want to protect only the rich and make others pay more taxes, want to take away women’s right to abortions, etc, etc. The blackboard was filled with nothing but anti-Conservative negative lies.
The teacher’s explanation for the difference between parties is that Republicans are either all rich or are extreme Bible believers who, in effect, do not think.
As my daughter left the room she heard the kids say, why would anybody ever vote Republican. I am sure they went straight home and told their parents to vote for Obama.
Friends, this is the effect the Teachers Union and the extreme liberals are having on our kids — diabolical brainwashing. Somehow this MUST be stopped.
In Jesus Christ eternally, Jack
Sickening. “Nineteen Eighty-Four” doesn’t sound too far off, does it? Very disconcerting that our tax dollars have been funding this kind of indoctrination for decades.
What can be done? Maybe more parents ought to sit in on more classes (especially history and government); get more involved in the school’s events; bring public attention to the matters when a line has been crossed; demand accountability; and for those who are able, home school is a great alternative. Quite simply, vigilance ’cause the enemy never sleeps.
Lastly, we need more conservatives entering the educational system! God bless those bright and shining lights which are already there.
My daughter is ridiculed incessantly by her peer group for her conservative political views. Much of the abuse comes from kids who are very new to our country. Their families are here to enjoy the economic fruits of our country, but they often maintain the socialist-leaning political beliefs that are prominent in so much of the rest of the world. In addition, my daughter’s Free Grace doctrinal views put her at odds with much of professing Christendom. She is likely to live her life as an outlier among outliers.
John,
Interesting about your courageous daughter. We will certainly pray for her Spiritual strength. She is to be commended.
And it is disconcerting that folks will come to America to enjoy the benefits yet seek to undermine and destroy the very thing they came here to enjoy. Twisted.
In Jesus eternally, Jack
Pearl,
Yes, 1984 the book has become 1984 the reality. Unbelievable.
Great suggestions you have for solving the problem — as long as the Teacher’s unions have sway over our education, the system is doomed. In class indoctrination is difficult for the average students to filter especially if they have non-caring, non-Christian parents.
Romney has claimed no love for the Teacher’s unions and I pray he won’t cave when he is elected.
In Christ eternally, Jack
I’m sorry to hear that about your daughter, John. Kids can be some of the cruelest creatures on earth. It adds insult to injury coming from ungrateful immigrants. Spiritual strength indeed! Let her know she’s got friends in Texas praying for her.
Thanks Pearl!
Dear Jack,
Thanks for your thoughtful words. Our church has been praying for 2 things:
1. That the Lord would be merciful to us as a nation, in that we would NOT get what we deserve. We all know what we deserve- God’s judgment for the continued increase of wickedness and godlessness.
2. That He would be gracious to us as a nation and give us something better than we DO deserve. The Lord has every right to let us fall apart as a nation that in many ways has turned its back on God. But I pray that He will pour out grace and preserve us.
Of course, we need to be living 1 Timothy 2, as has already been mentioned. Here are some other verses we should ponder:
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Looking at the history of the Bible, it is clear that the Lord moves through the law of sowing and reaping. Unless He steps in and is merciful and gracious to us as a nation, we are only seeing the beginning of trouble.
As far as the education of our children, we started Northland Christian School back in 1987. This is our 25th year. While it is a major commitment for a church, it has been a huge blessing to our families, ours included! Our children have been taught from day one a Biblical world view.
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
When the church, home and school are all in harmony, it is a huge blessing to all, especially the children. I would heartily recommend finding a good Christian school (not always easy) or home schooling.
Tom Cucuzza
Thanks Tom,
Wise words!!!
And if we could all move to your freezing (but spiritually warm) neighborhood all would be fine — or as I have suggested before, pack up your church, the school and move all down here to South Florida.
Our country certainly does not deserve a better government but we also pray for Grace and Mercy. Regardless of the results of the election, we resolve to continue proclaiming the Gospel and sharing the free Grace salvation of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
We continue to pray for you, Sue and your ministry.
In Jesus eternally, Jack
Bummed At the result of this election….will look forward to your next post preacher man
ELECTION REFLECTION
Obama won. Romney lost. But whoever won, our country will almost assuredly continue in a downward spiral spiritually, morally, and financially.
But for us pre-tribulation rapture believers, we know and look for Jesus to snatch us up at any time…the next minute, hour, day, week, month, year, etc.
And when He catches us up in a moment of time, in twinkling of an eye, we shall be changed into the image of Christ, that is, we shall immediately be like Him…sinless and holy. And those who have this confident expectation presently purify themselves just as He is pure! (1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 John 3:2-3).
In this increasingly darkening world, keep your heart and mind fixed on Jesus and His grace, walking in the light, and looking for His return.
Mary,
Many of us may seemed “bummed” today but we are still alive, our eternity is secure in Christ and there are more and more to whom we need to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ and His salvation.
We who have trusted Jesus Christ by Grace alone through Faith alone are God’s Children; we might heed these Bible verses:
Psalm 118:24
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Romans 8:21
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Galatians 3:26
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 13:18
Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
We thank the Lord for the freedoms we now have which may be slipping away. Let us redeem the time and share our Savior.
In Jesus Christ eternally and thankfully, Jack
Hi Matt,
Thank you for that reminder to keep our focus on the Lord, not on the events of the world. That was helpful.
Blessings friend,
Bruce
Thanks, Jack, for those wonderful verses of hope and confidence in the Lord.
Bruce
Yes, thank you Matt, Jack – and Tom! – for rightly emphasizing our eternal perspective.
Thanks Matt,
Your words are encouraging and put eternal things in perspective for those of who are watching and waiting for our Savior. Looking UP^^^ – Even so come Lord Jesus!!!
Thankfully in Jesus forever, Jack
All, I am very disappointed in the outcome of the election. Having said that, I am not morose or despondent.
I heard “Amazing Grace” on the way to work yesterday morning, while I still didn’t know what the election would bring. The song brought tears to my eyes then and still does now as I type this. Especially the verse that says:
“The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures”
Please remember how comforting this is and how dreadful life would be without Jesus and the blessed assurance that we have in Him.
Most of the people we meet, who are either depressed or elated with the election outcome, do not know Jesus. Accordingly, they look to themselves or someone else (such as political leaders) to be their shield and portion.
I read 1 Timothy 2, as Tom C. suggested. Verses 3 and 4 really stand out:
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
John,
Thanks for that.. I am not an emotional person normally but when I hear Amazing Grace well done and think of God’s Grace that saved a wretch like me — I do get emotional.
But I am so happy that my salvation depends upon fact rather than emotion because emotion is passing and eternal salvation is ETERNAL in Jesus — without regard to my emotional state.
In Jesus thankfully, Jack
