Barack Obama Talks Religion *UPDATED*

*UPDATED*

In light of Obama’s recent self appointed “messiah” status, this earlier post will be repeated here.

=========

For those of you who may have a thought that Barack Obama is a knowledgeable, Bible believing, spiritual Christian as he professes to be, this interview will open your eyes.

Here are some great excerpts from an interview with Barack Obama about his “faith.”

My comments are in dark blue BOLD and in order to emphasize what I think are his pertinent comments he will be in Red BOLD

=====================

Barack Obama The 2004 “God Factor” Interview Transcript 30 APRIL 2008

Chicago-Sun Time religion columnist Cathleen Falsani (“God Girl”) — GG

Interview was at 330 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2004,

[...]

OBAMA

So, I’m rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place,

And the Bible says

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

[...]

OBAMA So that, one of the churches …. that I became involved in was Trinity United Church of Christ. And the pastor there, Jeremiah Wright, became a good friend. So I joined that church and committed myself to Christ in that church.

GG Did you actually go up for an altar call?

OBAMA Yes. Absolutely.

[...]

OBAMA And I’m not somebody who is always comfortable with language that implies I’ve got a monopoly on the [religious] truth, …

I’m a big believer in tolerance. I think that religion at it’s best comes with a big dose of doubt. I’m suspicious of too much certainty in the pursuit of understanding just because I think people are limited in their understanding.

GG Do you still attend Trinity?

OBAMA Yep. Every week. 11 oclock service.

[...]

GG Do you have people in your life that you look to for guidance?

OBAMA Well, my pastor [Jeremiah Wright] is certainly someone who I have an enormous amount of respect for.

I have a number of friends who are ministers. Reverend Meeks is a close friend and colleague of mine in the state Senate. Father Michael Pfleger is a dear friend, and somebody I interact with closely.

GG Those two will keep you on your toes.

OBAMA And theyr’e [sic] good friends.

[...]

[Obama - appreciates The Constitution ] — its resolve to prevent disruptive strains of [in context -- religious] fundamentalism from taking root in this country.

[...]

OBAMA …… we are all children of God.

And the Bible says

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

OBAMA I think that the difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity, is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and prostelytize.

And the Bible says

Mark 16:15 And He [Christ] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

OBAMA There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they’re going to hell.

GG You don’t believe that?

OBAMA I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell.

And the Bible says

John 3:18 He that believeth on Him [Jesus] is not condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God [Jesus].

My comment — Not God’s fault but man’s

[...]

OBAMA Part of the reason I think it’s always difficult for public figures to talk about this is that the nature of politics is that you want to have everybody like you and project the best possible traits onto you. Oftentimes that’s by being as vague as possible, or appealing to the lowest common denominators. The more specific and detailed you are on issues as personal and fundamental as your faith, the more potentially dangerous it is.

GG [asking OBAMA about his belief in Heaven] A place spiritually you go to after you die?

OBAMA What I believe in is that if I live my life as well as I can, that I will be rewarded.

And the Bible says

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, ….

OBAMA I don’t presume to have knowledge of what happens after I die.

And the Bible says, for a believer in Christ:

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

  1. None of this is a surprise. An actual Bible-believing Christian would certainly find it difficult to justify any part of the platform of the Democrat Party, the party of the Scarlet A’s: abortion, adultery, abomination, avarice and appeasement. The only gospel of the left is the socialist gospel and the only god is the god of the State. Please understand, I would never say that the Republican Party is righteous or even particularly Christian, either; it’s just leaning a little more in that direction… or at least it used to do so.

May God grant mercy to the US, and to His Remnant within her, and prevent this wicked liar from becoming president!

  2. Thanks Lynda,

It would certainly take God’s mercy (not getting what we deserve) and God’s Grace (getting what we don’t deserve).

Because as our Republic strays further and further from the Truth, it is sliding down the slippery slope to Godless Socialism/Communism.

    We shall continue to pray!!

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  3. Ditto to what Lynda said.

This “many paths to the same place” routine shows a complete misunderstanding of Christianity. In fact, it shows a complete misunderstanding of religion, period. No major (ie real) religion believes anything but that it provides the one true and only way to see God.

But given the type of preaching that Obama heard at Trinity United over the past 20 years I guess it’s not surprising that he should spout such nonsense

  4. Tom,

Thanks — the biggest problem is that his answers to the interview show how little he understands the “christianity” he so-called :”professes.”

Unfortunately too many Americans do not understand the future implications of Barack’s flawed answers.

Pray for mercy for our country.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  5. I just posted something along these lines myself. One of the things Obama said when asked if he were to be able to meet and talk with Jesus today was that he would ask if he was going “up” or “down”. True Christians don’t have to ask that question. And if Obama isn’t saved, and sat under Jeremiah Wright’s preaching for all those years, what does that say about Jeremiah Wright?

  6. Ms. Green,

It simply means that Obama is apostate led by an apostate preacher. Two apostates no not a Christian make!

Put link to your similar article in a comment — my readers and I will appreciate it..

I visit your site regularly but must have missed that article.

    In Christ eternally,

  7. Heres a kooky idea- how about we have a president that is articulate intelligent and a decent person, not if he is a theological expert. I am just throwing it out there, seems important.

  8. llcnyc,

Not a bad idea — but one who is aware of correct Biblical theology has a good start at understanding our country and Constitution.

But, alas, There seems not to be one such anywhere on the horizon.

Meaningless platitudes are the rule these days for politicians who would put our country under Godless Socialism. And the masses seem to like it!!! Amazing how slick words can make a normally sane person lose his rational thought process and brain-power.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  9. I agree with lynda. We are so afraid of calling apostasy apostasy today. Why is that? What has happened to us?

  10. This is a great post, especially your inclusion of Scripture. I had some ISP trouble in June so I am now just getting to reading some blogs.

I remember reading some where that Obama called passages in Romans (1:26-27 I suspect) obscure when asked about his stance on homosexuality. This was last year. It was then that I new he was truly blind to the truth and eliminated him from consideration as president.

    Welcome back…

Yes, Obama is indeed a dangerous man — not just for Christians but for the whole country.

We can pray that the Lord will have mercy on our Republic.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  12. Yes, bro. Jack you are so right. Dangerous for all, though so few see it. Neither choice is good. I pray McCain will at least choose a decent running mate. May the Lord bless you bro. Jack.

  13. Impeach Obama!

Pray for a “swift boat” event! Pray for term limits for U.S. Senators. Illinois is DOOMED with Obama AND Durbin representing it for seemingly a lifetime already.

More and more, the liberals DO NOT do the WILL of the people they were elected to represent. Communism, yes. I think liberals should all go live in 3rd world countries and then come back and disrespect America.

  14. IO,

Great idea.. let them live in a third world country — but I am afraid, even so, they would never respect America.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  15. Impeach Obama

Respect is something I do not associate with the far left. Nancy Pelosi has no respect for her position, only lusts in the power she has.

Our God is a just God and I always think back to the Old Testament where there were “bad kings” and God dealt with them…only thing is, the people were oppressed during those times. Perhaps this ENTIRE country, liberals included, need to feel the PAIN of their poor leadership.

Anymore, it’s indescribable how these people think and how fast our country and media are going down the toilet in the name of “tolerance”.

I take huge issue with “tolerance”. Christians are being discriminated against and losing their rights every day. We need a revolution! What is encouraging though, even in the light of persecution in third world countries (Christian persecution), the gospel is reaching more people and Christianity is growing.

Unfortunately in America, the left is embracing eastern mysticism and secularism calling it some sort of religion. I work with many who claim to be Christians yet embrace this Eastern Culture thereby dismissing the American value system, again.

  16. IO,

    Right on target!

True Believers may very well be in for some persecution in the next few years, especially in light of our choices for President and Congress.

The church is infected with the cancers of ecumenism, liberalism, bad doctrine, emerging teaching, mysticism. seeker friendly, etc, to the point it is difficult to any longer call it “The Church.”

I have written several posts on the emerging church, Search my site for “Warren” or “Kimball” or “emerging” and you will see how I feel about these un-biblical movements.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  17. Impeach Obama

I was visiting my sister recently and we drove past a church called “The Liberal Catholic Church”! Now ain’t that a crack??!! I told her the name sounded so intriguing, one time when I was up there, we HAVE to go see what this is about.

Oftentimes, I hear of “liberal Christian” churches and I just don’t get it. You’re right, the yeast is in the dough!

I’d also love to attend a “gay church”. I wonder how they teach the bible. Wonder if they call the Word “hate speach”. LOL.

I love how they spew any negative remark against them as “hate speach” yet I’ve seen some of the MOST disrespectful, HATEFUL comments on our national news and in our papers – so hateful it rides on treason because many of the things being said only embolden our enemies.

    *sigh*

  18. IO,

    Interesting… About the “churches.”

My guess is, when you ask those church members a question about the Bible, they ask, “What’s a Bible?”

We need to share with them the Way of salvation… Jesus Christ and urge them to believe in Him, otherwise they are lost for all eternity.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  19. This man is dangerous in the extreme. All the folks urging conservative voters to abstain from voting should get a clue! Yes, we are all sick of having the ‘lesser of two evils’ choice at every election. Yes, we dislike letting the opposing party and left-leaning independents choosing our party’s candidate. Yes, we dislike the fat cat blue-bloods deciding that a so-called ‘moderate’ is more electable than a person with good solid conservative values and positions.

But, may God have mercy on us and our country is this Obamanation wins the presidency! He would have a rubber-stamp ultra-left Congress and all the judicial appointments. He would raise our taxes, tank our economy, and destroy our military, leaving us at the mercy of those who have none.

Heavenly Father, protect the U.S. for the sake of the Remnant!

This guy is scary from a natural and supernatural point of view. He’s like a puppet with some wicked thing pulling the strings. The more I find out about him, the more I’m willing to vote for just about anybody else!

  20. Isaiah states that poor leadership is part of HIS Judgment, I’m afraid that we are in for a world of hurt!
And if floods are also a sign of judgment, what about what Fay has been doing to Florida?
She is behaving “incorrectly” for a storm, and has flummoxed the meteorologists.
Hi, Jack! Long time, greetings and blessings to you and your Schweetie, in Jesus Name!
    And Lynda-Preach it sister!

    tmw

  21. Thanks Lynda —

    Wonder who’s pulling his strings????

    Thanks TMW,

Yep The Lord judges in Righteousness.

We are OK just a tad of high winds and rain.– how did you fare the BIG one?

My Sweetie is as great as ever. Thanks for asking.

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  22. Pingback: Should Christians Vote For Obama? « Without Politicians

  23. He won. Now you all must hope that he proves you wrong, or you will wallow in misery for the entirety of his term.

    Best of luck.

  24. Logan,

Liberals who refuse to swallow the Barakian koolaid will eventually regret their initial glee and support of a Marxist.

Thanks for the wishes of “good luck” but there is no “luck” with Christians, only Blessings.

Likewise and More important, there is no misery, only Joy for those of us who have trusted Christ alone as our Savior,

    In Christ happily and eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  25. What REALLY gets me is the so called CHRISTIAN VOTE.. after Obama winning, the word.

    ——————REMNANT—————————

surely stands out in those that are willing that the WORD of a PERFECT INFALLIBLE GOD ( YAWEH/YASHUA) will stand FOREVER..

One young “professing” Christain i know personally , voted for him on these reasons I “quote”

He keeps his cool, and seems sincere!!!!!!!!

  26. James,

    Thanks for your comment.

It is incomprehensible, except for ignorance and lack of discernment, that any Christian or Jew would vote for the Marxist Obama.,

    In Christ eternally,

    ExP(Jack)

  27. Dont you guys know that even satan and his demons know the scriptures.they shiver when they here the LORDS name.many people will be hungry wolves in the inside but will not show there true identity on the outside.plus if he was a real follower of christ wouldnt he give up his life for him.when did he ever say he was baptized as am act of obedience.many deceivers will rise in the end of times.LET US NOT HAVE OUR EYES ON ANYTHING OF THIS WORLD.SET YOUR EYES IN CHRIST AND ETERNAL LIFE.FOR THIS LIFE IS TEMPARORY AND WILL SOON FADE AWAY. ALL GLORY TO OUR SAVIOR CHRIST ND OUR LORD THE FATHER.AMEN

  28. Jack, I love the line on your blog that says 81 year old narrow minded conservative christian. I’m a 38 year old, narrow minded conservative christian. :) Tell Shirley she’s cute as a button. Love the picture of you guys. And thank you for the link to give my friend.

  29. DawnMarie,

Thanks for dropping by. I agree about Shirley who is God’s blessing to this old sinner 7 1/2 years ago after my wife, Fern, was called home to her Savior and Shirley’s Pastor husband was likewise called home less than a month after Fern.
So the Lord if full of Grace for us.

We will be praying for your friend.

Just curious, how did you end up on this post??

    In Jesus Christ eternally, Jack

  30. I wanted to comment on the post link that you left on the other blog, but I wasn’t getting a box to do so, so I found one that did!

I’m glad God found both you and Shirley companions in eachother. The Lord surely is full of grace. :)

  31. DawnMarie,

Sorry but I believe Eternal Life For you is the only post in which I closed comments. Appreciate your finding a way to comment, though.

Yes, God IS full of Grace…

    In Jesus Christ eternally, Jack
